Chapter 16

Morning...

Rydel POV

Mom wanted me to go get Riker for breakfast. I went upstairs, and found him laying on his bed without the covers on. He was on his side, and he looked awful. Half of his shirt was drenched in sweat. His eyes were all bloodshot. And he was shaking.

"Rik? You doing ok?"

"N-no."

He curled up on his side.

"Are you hot?"

"Yes."

"How about you take a cold shower? It might help."

"O-ok..."

I got him a change of clothes, and then helped him get up and walk to the bathroom. He seemed extremely dizzy. And as soon as we were in the bathroom, he started throwing up in the toilet.

"Aw, Rik..."

I knelt down next to him, and started rubbing the lower part of his back, which wasn't wet with sweat. Finally, he stopped.

"Come on. Get in the shower."

"I don't feel good."

"The cold water will make you feel better."

I turned the shower on for him. He stumbled over, and fell on his knees.

"Rik..."

I grabbed his arm, and helped him up. But he fell over again.

"My head hurts..."

"Ok. Just stay there. I'm going to get Rocky to help you get undressed, ok?"

"Ok..."

I went downstairs, and told Rocky to go help Riker. And then I sat down to have breakfast.

Later...

Riker POV

I was beginning to sweat through my shirt again. Mom had wanted me downstairs so she could keep an eye on me. I was on the couch with a trash can in case I needed to throw up again.

Rocky had helped me take a shower. I kept losing my balance though, so I ended up taking it sitting in the bathtub.

But it was fine. He helped me get out and get dressed again, and then he helped me get down the stairs and to the living room. He gave me a plate of pancakes, but after the first few bites, I threw up. So I wasn't going to eat anything anytime soon.

Rydel POV

I was helping mom make lunch in the kitchen. I couldn't stop watching Riker fidget on the couch. He kept changing positions, and he just looked really uncomfortable.

I walked into the living room. Riker was silently crying, and he kept moving around. I sat down on the floor next to the couch.

"You ok?" I asked.

"Everything hurts," he whispered, shutting his eyes tight.

"What hurts?"

"My head and my belly. I can't find a comfortable position. My heart keeps racing, my hands won't stop shaking, and I keep sweating."

"Did you take aspirin?"

"Yeah, but it's not helping!"

He ran his fingers through his hair, and kept shifting around.
