Chapter 12

A few days later...

Riker POV

It was a normal day at work, when I noticed a certain couple that got seated in my section. And I immediately felt tense.

I walked over, trying not to get mad.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, slightly annoyed.

"Rydel told us you were working here. We thought we'd come see," mom said.

I wouldn't make eye contact with dad.

"Alright, well what would you like to order?" I asked, staring at nothing but the notebook I used to take orders with.

They both ordered, and I put in their orders, and got their drinks.

Every night, I took a bathroom break around the same time. But instead of going to the bathroom, I sprinted upstairs to my bedroom. Kenzie knew everything about what had happened, and why I was a waiter here, and I wanted to let her know what was going on and see if she had any ideas of what I should do.

By the time I finished telling her, I was out of breath.

"Ok, now think about that for a second. I'm going to use the bathroom. Then I need you to come back downstairs to the restaurant while you tell me what I should do, ok!?"

I ran into the bathroom, and quickly did my business. Then I came out, and Kenzie followed me down the stairs.

"So what do I do!?" I asked, walking back to the restaurant.

"I think you should do what your heart tells you. I don't know if they're going to try to get you to come back home or not, but if they do, see what your heart says."

I sighed.

"Fine... Thanks!"

I kissed her quickly, and ran back into the restaurant, almost slipping.

I gave my parents their meals, and then went off to go do my other tables.

Later...

Riker POV

Finally my parents left, and they didn't leave me a tip! I was pretty ticked off, and I was also kind of mad they didn't ask me to come home. I sort of secretly wanted to.

But they left an envelope. I decided not to open it yet, and keep working. I still have to work for 2 more hours. I don't have time to look in the envelope.

Later...

Riker POV

It had become a regular thing that after the restaurant closed, Kenzie would come down, and we'd have dinner together for free, since I worked at the restaurant.

"So what happened?" Kenzie asked.

"What do you mean?"

"With your parents."

"Oh... They didn't leave me a tip. But they left me an envelope."

"Oh. What was inside?"

"I don't know... I didn't look yet. I'm kind of scared to look. And I'm really annoyed they didn't even ask me to come back home! I'm their son! Well... I'm my mom's son. I don't know about my dad..."

"Well are you going to look?"

"I don't know... Not yet..."

Chris brought us some drinks. Kenzie wouldn't drink alcohol because her cousin had become an alcoholic, and she was scared of the same thing happening to her. But I had alcohol. I had the Riker drink Chris had invented.

Actually, I had multiple drinks. And after my parents came here and made me all nervous, I felt the need to drink more than usual so I felt better. Every night I'd drink enough to become a little tipsy. But tonight, I think I was just about crossing the line of drunk.

Later...

Kenzie POV

"Come on. Stairs aren't that difficult. Just keep going," I said, trying to get Riker up the stairs to our room.

"Whoa!"

Riker grabbed onto the railing. I was holding onto his arm. We were about halfway up the first flight of stairs. So we still had a flight and a half to go.

"Come on. Keep trying."

I held onto him tight, trying not to let him fall.

We got up a few more steps, and then he faceplanted.

I helped him up, and we kept going. Finally, we were at the top. Now only 1 more flight.

"Alright, Riker. We just have to make it up there, and you can go to bed, ok?"

"Mhmmm..."

He was stumbling all over the staircase. He took another fall, but I half caught him, and he didn't land very hard. He may have banged up his knees a little, though.

We made it to the top of the staircase, and I got him to our room. He flopped on his bed.

"Night!" Riker said, rolling over.

"No. Riker, wait. You can't sleep yet. You have to get changed."

I went in the closet, and got him a change of clothes.

"Riker come here. Come get changed in the bathroom, ok?"

I put his clothes down on the sink counter. And then I pulled him out of bed.

Thank god, he got dressed. I helped him properly get into bed. And then I shut off the lights.

"Night, Riker."

"Night!" He said, giggling a little.

A/N : I just wanted to let you know that I can't upload the sequel to Finding a Twin yet. I'm currently dealing with some issues of plagiarism. So I wanted to warn all of you that if you plagiarize my stuff, you will be reported, and possibly get your account taken down. But I can continue with this book for now, so that's what I'm going to do. I don't know how soon Wattpad will take care of this, but as soon as it's taken care of, the sequel will be up.
