Ally's POV

I immediately opened a new message. I began typing.

Ms Carter,

Thanks for the luck. I certainly will need it.

We have off from filming on Sundays, but since it is for school, I assume you would want to do it on a day of the week. I'm free all afternoon on Thursday, so we could maybe do something then.

My Skype name is Alexandra_Tomlinson. Contact me with more details. Thanks again for everything. I wouldn't be here without you.

Ally Tomlinson

I then shut down my laptop, and collapsed onto my bed. Jenna soon walked in with a tray of Starbucks in hand.

"Hey!  I got you a Pumpkin Coffee.  Good job today." She cheered.  I grabbed the warm beverage from her hands, and we then sat gossiping about the other contestants.

We soon settled into our beds and drifted to sleep exhausted from our day.

The next day was the first day we got to choose our songs.  I could barely fall asleep out of excitement.  I think I know what I'm singing.

In the morning I awoke to the sound of Jenna's hair dryer.

"Get up Ally!  We have breakfast and then a rehearsal!"  She yelled over the noise of the artificial wind.  I rolled out of bed, and walked towards my dresser.

I rummaged through the clothes, finding exactly what I was looking for.  A long mint green flowy top,  and dark skinny jeans.  I got myself dressed, and walked into the bathroom.  I scrubbed my teeth, brushed my hair, and applied some makeup.  Just a bit so I don't look like a clown on camera.

When Jenna and I finished getting ready, we began to head downstairs to fetch some breakfast with the other contestants.  We rushed through the lobby towards the banquet hall, and soon found about twenty others sitting around eating and socializing.

We followed the lead of everyone else and walked up to the buffet.  I loaded my plate with eggs, toast, and some fruit.  Jenna and I then walked to the nearest table, soon to be joined by two more girls.

"Uh, hi.  Can we sit here?" They asked nervously.

"Sure!  Take a seat." I gestured towards two empty chairs, as I scootched mine over.  The girls took a seat, and we all began eating.

"I'm Carolyn, and this is Linda." The tall brunette one stated pointing to the equally tall red-head.

The one, Linda, looked pissed off.  "Call me Linny.  Linda sounds like a formal name."

We continued making small-talk, until the hall began to clear out leaving just us and a few more people.  We assumed it was time for filming, and my watch proved that.

Once again, we were all up on the stage staring at the judges. Twenty-three others surrounded me, each one of them being a competitor.

It's crazy how I once lived in an orphanage dreaming this, and now I'm on stage living this.

"Gentlemen, ladies, today you will be getting songs for this week. Our theme is 'Two-thousands pop'.  We'll pass out a list of your choices." Demi stated. That caused a stack of papers to begin passing around.

I looked at the list. I knew nearly every song. After reading through all the soon choices, I decided on 'Half A Heart'.  One of dad's newest songs. After all, If it weren't for Niall sneaking me out a few weeks ago, I wouldn't be here.

I ran across the stage to the producers to confirm my choice, and then went backstage to fully read through the song. I kinda like it.

I warmed up my vocals, and began to fully sing through the  song.

"Okay contestants! Keep practicing! The live show is this Wednesday!" Simon screamed throughout the theater. With that, Jenna and I began to head back to the hotel

I got back to the room and immediately opened up my laptop to find out I missed a Skype call from Nick.

I called him back, and to my luck, he picked up.

"Hey babe." He said in an extremely tired tone.

"Hey!" I replied.

"So Al, I was wondering if I can come see you anytime soon? I miss you tons."

"Er, well I have off next Sunday. You can stay a few days and come to the live show!" I exclaimed. I really miss Nick. I think I actually may love him more than anything.

"Sounds good babe. See you then. I love you!"

And with that, Nick kissed the camera and hung up.

I sighed and closed my laptop. I laid back on my bed, and began thinking of home.

I miss mum. I miss dad. I miss the guys of One Direction. I miss the girls of Little Mix. I miss Brie. I miss everyone so  freaking much. Maybe this just isn't the place for me.

Jenna looked up from her phone and began insisting we go hang out with Linny and Carolyn.  We had swapped numbers earlier.  Carolyn texted both Jen and I about coming over to their room.

I agreed and we walked down the hall, two rooms down in fact.  That was where they'd be staying for the duration of the competition.

We knocked on the door, and soon Carolyn pulled it open.

"Hey Ally!  Hey Jenna!" She said gesturing us to walk in. We did, and went to sit down on the couch and chairs.  Linny walked over to me and sat down to my left.

"So.  What's up?" I asked them.

"Uh, nothing much.  We're probably gonna go for dinner later.  Want to join us?" Carolyn asked as she turned off her Windows phone.

I looked over at jenna and we both replied with an enthusiastic 'yes'.

See, nobody really knows anyone here.  Everyone's a stranger, and everyone's a competitor.  We have to make some friends incase somebody gets kicked off and we're stuck alone.

We soon left for some dinner, which happened to be at the McDonald's Drivethru.

°

"Hi guys!" I waved into my laptop camera. "Hi Ms. Carter!"

I was finally able to Skype my school after a week of work, three contestants getting kicked off, one of them being Carolyn.

Yes, it was sad. We all cried. She left yesterday, but promised to come back at the final show.

I glanced at my screen. I saw a cafeteria full of fellow students glancing at me, and who were front and center but Brie and Nick.

"Hello Ally!  Can you just introduce yourself?" Ms Carter asked.

I cleared my throat before I began talking.

"Yeah. Okay. I'm Ally Tomlinson, and I'm a contestant on the XFactor, but also a student at your school."

The crowd clapped, and soon some kids stood up to ask questions.

"How does your schooling work?"

"How's Simon?"

"Do you have Katy's number?"

I laughed at the last one. In fact, I do have her number.

*

I continued to answer some questions until the clock struck two, and the kids had to move to their next class.  I was on with them for a good two hours.

I slammed my laptop shut, and grabbed my phone from across the table.  I sat reading some DM's on Twitter, and any mentions.  I followed a couple of fans, and then held down my lock button turning my phone off.
