AVA STOOD NEXT TO her brother, her hand in his. Behind them was Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and they were ready to hear their fate with the Jedi. "The Force is strong with them."
"They are to be trained, then." Qui-Gon stated,
The Council members looked at each other before Windu answered, "No. They will not be trained." Anakin had tears beginning to form in his eyes, but Ava let out a sigh of relief.
Perhaps this was the right choice. The choice that will save Anakin.
"No?!"
"They are too old. There is already too much anger in Anakin."
Ava's breath hitched. Anakin was angry? About what?
"He is the chosen one...you must see it." Qui-Gon said,
"Clouded, this boy's future is. Masked by his youth." Yoda replied,
"I will train them, then. I take Anakin and Ava as my Padawan learners." Qui-Gon said, putting his hands on their shoulders,
"An apprentice, you have, Qui-Gon. Impossible, to take on a second and third." Yoda responded,
"We forbid it."
"Obi-Wan is ready-"
"I am ready to face the trials." Obi-Wan interrupted, stepping up beside Ava and she looked up at him,
"Ready so early, are you? What know you of ready?" Yoda questioned,
"Headstrong...and he has much to learn about the living Force, but he is capable. There is little more he will learn from me."
"Our own council we will keep on who is ready. More to learn, he has..."
"Now is not the time for this...the Senate is voting for a new Supreme Chancellor. Queen Amidala is returning home, which will put pressure on the Federation, and could widen the confrontation." Windu said,
"And draw out the Queen's attacker."
"Events are moving fast...too fast."
"Go with the Queen to Naboo and discover the identity of the dark warrior. That is the clue we need to unravel this mystery of the Sith." Windu ordered,
"The young Skywalkers' fate will be decided later." Yoda said,
"I brought Anakin and Ava here; they must stay in my charge. They have nowhere else to go." Qui-Gon replied,
"They are your ward, Qui-Gon...we will not dispute that." Windu responded,
"Train them not. Take them with you, but train them not!" Yoda exclaimed,
"Protect the Queen, but do not intercede if it comes to war until we have the Senate's approval."
"May the Force be with you."
They bowed and left the room. Ava looked over at Obi-Wan and noticed the angry look on his face. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it, hoping to bring him some comfort.
They soon left the temple, and waited by the ship to depart, "It is not disrespect, Master, it is the truth." Ava heard Obi-Wan say,
Anakin and Ava stood by R2-D2, waiting to be ordered to board the ship. Anakin was playing with R2 while his sister listened in on their conversation, "From your point of view."
"The boy is dangerous...they all sense it. Why can't you?" Obi-Wan asked,
"His fate is uncertain, not dangerous. And what of the girl? They didn't sense anything wrong with her." He shook his head, "The Council will decide their future...that should be enough for you. Now get on board!" Qui-Gon answered,
Ava walked over to Qui-Gon, "Sir, we do not wish to be a problem."
"You won't be, Ava...I'm not allowed to train you, so I want you to watch me and be mindful, both of you...always remember, your focus determines your reality. Stay close to me and you will be safe."
"Master, sir... I've been wondering... what are midi-chlorians?" Anakin asked, grabbing Ava hand,
"Midi-chlorians are a microscopic lifeform that resides within all living cells and communicates with the Force." He answered,
"They live inside of me? Of us?"
"In your cells. We are symbionts with the midi-chlorians."
"Symbionts?"
"Life forms living together for mutual advantage. Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist, and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to you, telling you the will of the Force." Qui-Gon explained,
"They do?"
"When you learn to quiet your mind, you will hear them speaking to you."
"I don't understand." Ava stated, shaking her head,
