The office isn’t very big but it’s also not very small. It actually looks really neat and tidy in here. Behind the light brown, polished wooden desk sits a woman who I guess is around her thirties.

When I close the door behind me she immediately stands up. “Hello, you must be Louis, right? I’m Michelle, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” she says as she put out her hand for me to shake. “Yes, that’s me. Nice to meet you too.” unsure of what else I should say.

“Right let’s get right to it then, sit down.” I do as she says and sit down on one of the wooden chairs. “If you would sign this paper right here, then you can get to work immediately when your shift starts. Take a look through it first since it contains your salary, the days you work and etc.”

She handed me the paper and I start to scann it, looking out for any mistakes in my address or name. I don’t know why but somehow people always make a mistake when they have to write down my address.

Glad that I don’t see anything out of the ordinary I sign the paper and hand it back to her. “Great, then from now on you’ll be working here on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. From six till ten pm. To that I nodded my head, I could already feel a tiny bit of excitement building up in me. I can do this.

“Well, now that this is done, let’s go meet the others.” she said while standing up. I felt my stomach drop. “Meet the others? What do you mean by that?” I say, suddenly feeling very nervous. I didn’t read anything in the advertisement about meeting other people.

“Oh, right. I forgot to put that in the advertisement. It’s not just you who only sings, there are four more people who do the same thing as you. You guys each take turns in singing. Let me guess, you thought you were the only one here singing, right?” she said a smile forming on her face.

“Yeah.” I was too shocked to say anything else. Great, now I have to be friends with four strangers.

“Don’t worry, they’re really nice people, Louis. You might need to get used to them at first but once you’re a regular here, it’s actually not that bad at all.” Michelle says walking out of her office with me following her.

I hope so too, I think to myself.

I was again led to a room which I didn’t see before. There is a hallway behind the stage leading straight to a room. Instead of “Manager” it had “Musicians” labelled on it. Wow, I already feel left out. No offence, but seriously, musicians???

Only people who are really good at music are called that, in my opinion. Oh, shit, these people must be really good then. I knew it, I shouldn’t have signed that paper so quickly. I really need to think twice before doing something.

But before I can dwell further with my thoughts, Michelle already opens the door. For a quick moment the lights from inside blind me.

When my eyes adjust to the lights I’m greeted with a relatively large room. Sadly it doesn’t have any windows. In the back left corner there is a, what looks like a brand new piano. Next to it are the drums. Well, we can practice whenever we want, that’s nice to know. I’m seriously going to take advantage of that while I’m here. Along the right side of the wall there are various guitars and along the left side is a long sofa with a tv and also one of those machines which provide water. There are also a few bean bags scattered in the room.

In front of the tv are three people sitting. One in a bean bag and two cuddled up next to each other on the floor.

“Guys, from now on Louis will be joining us. Since he’s new here I expect you guys to be helpful and nice to him.” Michelle says and then turns to me. “Come to my office if there are any problems, okay? I still have some business to take care of, so I’ll be going now.” And with that she walked out of the room without noticing my eyes pleading for her to stay. I seriously do not feel comfortable with being in a room with strangers.

When Michelle left the room, the first person to stand up and come to me was the guy sitting on the bean bag. He had brown hair with brown eyes. I could also see a birthmark on his neck.

Smiling at me he put out his hand for me to shake. “Hey, nice to meet you man, I’m Liam.” he says. “I’m Louis, nice to meet you.” I say, trying to smile my best at him.

By then the two guys who were cuddled up on the floor were now also standing in front of me.

“Hey, I’m Zayn, welcome to the group.” He has tanned skin with dark brown eyes and black hair. I could also see that he has some tattoos on his arms.

Then the guy he was cuddled up with had blonde hair and bright light blue eyes. “Hi, my name is Niall, it’s really nice to finally meet you.” He also took out his hand and I firmly shake it. “Yeah, it’s really nice to meet you all. I’m Louis, which I think you already know by now.”

After shaking his hand Zayn immediately put a protective arm around Niall’s waist. Clearly a sign which shows he’s taken. I smile at Zayn showing that I got the message and that I’m not a threat or anything. It looks like he got it because he then also gives me a smile back.
