I wake up to the chirping of some annoying birds. Groaning, I turn to my side and pull the blanket up to my chin, enjoying the comfy bed hugely.

"You're finally awake." the familiar voice of Nina says. I open my eyes and I see her sitting in a chair with an old looking book. "How are you feeling?" she asks me a little worried. Then yesterday's memories come right back at me.

That's right, I got these very strange waves of pain all of a sudden. Harry's eyes turned dark and he went out of the room with his wolf speed. Why did he leave me though? And why did I get those pain attacks?

A door makes a little screeching sound and in walks Harry. His eyes are solely focused on me, completely oblivious to Nina's existence. Looking at his eyes, a wave of relief washes through me and I give a small smile.

"How are you feeling?" he asks me. "I'm fine, what actually happened? Also, why did you leave me?" I ask him, still a little sad by the fact that he left me before I passed out.

He gives a small sigh and runs his hand through his hair. "Nina, could you give us a moment?" she nods and then leaves the room, giving me a quick glance and smile before leaving us alone.

Harry sits in the chair where Nina sat moments ago. Damn, he looks sexy with his hair shuffled from his hand running through it.

"There is a reason for what happened. When mates aren't fully mated, they suffer from these pain attacks. When the mates are a human and a wolf, only the human will suffer from that pain, the wolf doesn't. When both mates are wolfs, both of them suffer from that pain." he answers me.

That still is so confusing though.

"Why does only the human suffer from it?" I ask him still confused.

"It's not entirely known but it is thought the reason only humans suffer from it, is because they are much weaker than wolfs. We wolfs have a way stronger immune system, much greater strength and we could kill a human in an instant."

I swallow thickly before I continue to question him. I won't show him how scared that really makes me but I do get the concept of it.

"Ok, so this happens when mates aren't fully mated. So I suffer from this pain right?" and he nods in response.

"Will I experience this pain any more?" again he nods in response.

"It will happen more and more often. The only way you can get rid of it is by completing the mating process." Harry says and looks at me intensly.

"And how do you complete it?" I ask him curiously.

"I will basically bite your neck, the spot where I have bitten you will get a mark on it. That shows that you're mine, my mate. However..........." he doesn't finish his sentence.

"However, go on." I urge him to continue. He looks at me for a bit but then decides to go on.

"If I mark you and complete the mating process, you will become a werewolve yourself." he finishes off.

A moment goes by and I try to comprehend what he just said. In order for this pain to go away, I need to complete this mating process but I will become a wolf. Holy shit.

"Uhm, not to sound rude but is there another way?" I ask him hesitantly but he nods his head.

"Actually there is. But that means one of us has to reject the other." pain flashes through his eyes and I feel hurt myself. That doesn't sound good.

"What does it mean to reject the other?"

"Saying that you don't accept your mate and that you want the mate bond to be broken. So the sparks will be gone and all the other feeling you get with your mate. Usually one of the mate dies because they can't handle the pain it brings upon them to be rejected." Harry explains.
