Chapter 29

After dinner, (which consisted of pizza-as always) the boys headed up to Luke's room. I moved back to mine, hearing the sounds whatever game they were playing; yelling; and laughter.

I hunch my shoulders and follow the carpet to my room. Not expecting to find a teenage-boy, cross-legged on my bed.

I looked at Cal confused. "I assume you know this is my room?" I question squinting at him-trying to spy his ulterior-motive.

"Yea, I was waiting for you. I wanted to chat." He smiles at me and pats the spot next to him on the duvet.

I cautiously move to where he has placed his hand. "You were quiet at dinner, is everything okay?" He turns to me concerned.

'Why do you care?' I think dismally. "Look, I know you better than you think Ly. I may have been usually around Luke – But I grew up around you too Ly, you're like a sister to me, I can tell when something's bothering you. What is it Ly?"

I guess all the time Cal, Luke and I spent together paid off. Countless sleepovers, and playdates means that he can read me like a book.

It's true, I was quiet at dinner-I was thinking about the comment made by XxJuliexX. Does it bother me I can't tell people Ash is mine? Am I being self-centered? Our secrecy is starting to get to me.

"I was just thinking about our set on Tuesday." I lie, I can see he's beginning to think my lie over-to see if what I said was true. But I backed it up with a quick truth to cover up.

"I think we should do your song." I said, I didn't just decide it right-there though, I'd been meaning to ask.

"Really?" He asks hopefully, then jumps into a full-on story about a new one he's written. I sit and listen with a smile on my face until I realise Cal is staring at me.

"Cal, are you and the boys my friends?" I blurt desperately, "Well...yea, of course. Why? "he asks with a confused expression.

I don't reply, I just hug him. He flinches in surprise, before relaxing.

"Thank you, for caring Cal." Calum squeezes me tighter,

"That's okay, lil' sis."
