*Next day*
All through today I've been busying myself with lots of small tasks. Luke had gone out to hang with Calum at the mall, or so he says my bet is he's out with that mystery girl from the song. My parents are off at the law-firm again, working overtime as usual. Just random things to keep my eye off the clock, and waiting for 1.00 to roll around. At exactly 12.00 I started getting ready and was done before 12.30 leaving me, half an hour to mindlessly stare out my window before Ashton picks me up. I didn't however have to ponder for long as at 12.45 the doorbell rang. I headed downstairs but not before checking my reflection one last time in the mirror. Never have I been so cautious about every-little-thing, I really want this to go well, I hope he does too. When I open the door Ash immediately smiles at me, I'm not the kind of girl to score boys on looks but right then that smile could get at least 100/10. He looked like an angel standing at my door, the sun shining through his long-ish curly hair; skinny jeans on, with a grey t-shirt, green combat boots, and red flannel tied around his waist.
"You look pretty." he complements, eyeing the purple-lace dress I am wearing, with my beat-up black and white All-Star chucks. "Thank-you," I smile, "You too." before blushing and hiding behind my hair, something that has become all-too-common since Ash came to town. He must have noticed because, he too blushes, at his combat boots. "You ready?" he asks, we both, still hiding. "Yes...umm...I just need to get my purse," I smile as I turn and grab it on the entrance-way table. "Got it." I say, as I return to my original position at the doorframe. By then Ashton had recovered as the crimson tint of his cheeks was gone and he was standing straight again and staring at me. "Let's go," Ash said leading the way to his mum's car on the curb. Stopping to open the door for me, and help me in. "That's rare," I think, it's not often teenage boys have showed chivalry to me, it's really cute that he feels the need to.
We drive for a while, before Ash pulls up to a forest. Strange thoughts run through my mind, I'm ashamed to say 'Maybe he's going to eat me' was one of them. Ash must have spotted the confused and slightly scared look on my face, as he says, "Don't worry, I'm...I found a clearing here...in the forest, the first day we moved here I went for a run, to clear my head and I found a path. It's really pretty, I thought you'd like to go there for our date..." he saw my face change and thought it meant I wanted to leave. "It's okay we can go somewhere else if you want, It was stupid of me to even suggest it. I'm sorry, I guess I just got carried awa.....",he stumbles,
"No!" I interrupt. "I mean, it sounds perfect, I would really love to see it. I love the woods." I grin, I really do. My mum used to take me out here "To clear our minds," when I was younger, I wonder why I haven't come out here for ages. Probably because Luke has never really taken a fascination to nature and mum's always at work these days, doubt she'd have time to go grocery shopping with me let alone have a relaxing walk through a forest. Ash gives me a kind-of lop-sided smile, I smile back.
"C'mon then," I say, sounding way too eager, jumping out of the car door. Ash giggles, that little giggle of his and follows my lead. We meet at the front of the car and Ash smiles at me again and takes my hand. I can tell that he's nervous because as soon as they clasp around each other I feel how tense he is. 'If I show him I like him, maybe he'll calm down," I think, and sure enough when I give his hand a squeeze of reassurance, he physically relaxes. He looks down at our hands, intertwined, fingers laced together and then at my face. I smile, I couldn't help it. This was perfect, all the first dates I've heard about from the boys don't even begin to compare to this. He smiles back and I drown in his eyes. Making my smile beam, 'I'm smitten,' I think, 'and the date has barely begun,'. As Ash begins to walk into the forest, I follow. Our laughter embraced by the surrounding lush, greens.
