In all your moments with Murphy, none seemed as nervous as this one. With your hand clasped in his, he led you towards the circle table in his family's resturant, puling out the chair for you and letting you sit down. You smiled up at him as he sat down beside you, taking your hand again in yours.
The two of you were nervous beyond belief, hoping this night with his family would go well. A waiter brought along the first plate of food as his parents, sister and grandmother joined you at the table. You smiled towards them, the nauseating feeling coming back into your stomach. You felt Andy's hand on your knee, sensing your nerves and trying to calm you down.
"You ok Anna?" He asks you, squeezing your knee gently. You nod, placing your hand over his.
"So, what have to the two of you come here to tell us," Andy's dad asks, a smile of his face. Andy gulps beside you and clears his throat before he starts to speak.
"Well we actually have an annouc-" He stops as his grandmother starts talking loudly, her hands moving around in a flurry.
"Oh Andy, I was wondering if you could take up a few shifts this month, the new boy has left for a holiday and I knew that Anna and you were free, so I have booked you in for this weekend." She stops talking as Andy's mother sent her a glare.
"Mum, let Andy talk. He must have something more important than the shifts you need to fill." She says, scolding the older woman, before ushering Andy to talk again.
"So, like I was going to say, we actually have an announcement. " He starts again, while taking your hand in his and laying it on the table. "Over the past 4 years we've been together, we couldn't be happier, and we don't want it to end. So on Saturday night I, um, asked Anna to marry me?" He finishes hesitantly. The sound of cutlery clashing down onto ceramic plates echoed throughout the empty room, making your nerves shoot up even higher than before. You gripped Andy's hand even tighter, as his face pales.
"Oh finally." Viv screems, pulling the both of you out of your shock as she throws her arms around you and squeezing. "I'm so happy for the two of you, took you long enough Andy." You laugh at his sister, as he blushes even more. Pulling away from Viv, you glance towards Andy's parents, smiles on their faces as they come towards you.
"My little man is getting married, to the most beautiful woman in the world." He mum kisses your forehead, before hugging her only son, and his dad hugs the both of you.
And then comes Nai Nai, her face covered in a scowl as she stares at you. With one quick movement, she collects her bag, coat and walks out the door, the little bell ringing violently. His parents sigh, sending a weak smile to the two of you.
After Nai Nai storming out, you all decide to have dinner at a different time, and after saying a quick good bye, Andy and you walk home to your apartment. As you unclock the door, he pulls you into his side, his arm around your waist as he takes your bag and coat and hangs them on the hook, before leading you towards the couch.
He sits down, pulling you into his lap, and taking your hands in his. His hair tickled the back of your neck as he leaned in and put his head on your shoulder.
"Look, Anna, I'm sorry about Nai Nai. I knew that she could be a bit dramatic, but I didn't expect this." He sighs, fiddling with your hands and spinning the ring around your finger.
"It's ok Andy, she just cares about. She wants what is best for you, and in her opinion, that might not be me, but that's all right." You kiss his cheek, resting the side of your head against his.
"But she could accept that I love you, I mean, why else would I want to marry you? Look, I love Nai Nai and everything but I put what I want first, not what she wants for me. I'm always going to love you, and if she can't accept that, then that's fine." You smile at him, happy that he had calmed down. He leans it kissing your lips as he places his hands on your hips, and your hands go to his hair. After a while he pulls away, smiling at you again.
"C'mon, we should go to bed now."He says as he stands up, and starts leading you towards the bedroom.
The two of you are finally accepted by Nai Nai, giving you her blessing to marry Andy. Both of you were happy, wanting nothing but to be together for eternity.
