Tes
When I open the locket, there is the same picture of Skigh, Bryant and I that I have in my locker but smaller. My eyes fill with tears; this is one of the best presents I've ever gotten.
"Tes? You okay? Did I pick the wrong picture?" Bryant looks into my eyes, his own awash with concern.
"Yes, I'm okay! This picture is great, the whole thing is amazing." I grin at Bryant. And he thought that he wouldn't be able to find the right gift for me.
"My turn!" Skigh bounces in her seat with anticipation. She takes out a pink gift bag and slides it across the table to me.
"Open! Open! Open!" Skigh sings while I take out the take out the tissue paper. Her excitement is entertaining and contagious.
I open the bag and pull out the card first. It's a handmade card. Skigh has always been amazing with art and crafts. The card is pink, and it has a photo of her and I on the front of when we were at the beach in Florida last year. In the picture, we are both covered in sand smiling because we had a sand fight. That sand stayed in my hair for a week, at least.
I open the card.
Bf's till the end!
We've had many amazing times together, and I hope to have so much more. I never want us to forget any of the memories we make and that is where your birthday gift comes in! Enjoy!
Love,
Skigh
I reach in and pull out an old-fashioned Polaroid camera! That's my favorite kind of camera, I used to use my mom's all the time. I was so bummed when it broke. The bag still has some weight to it, so I'm guessing there's more.
The last present is a scrapbook that completes my gift. I'm so lucky to have two friends who know me so well and I can't wait to fill this scrapbook with pictures of us.
"Thank you so much Skigh! This is a great present." I lean over the table and give her a quick hug.
"Ok, first memory with your new camera is now," Skigh says grabbing the camera. "Bryant! Get in here! One, two, three, cheese!"
The picture comes out, and it looks way too funny. My eyes are closed with a big grin, Skigh's mouth is open and Bryant is smirking and looking at me. It's the perfect picture.
"Alright kids, here's your food; for the ladies, chicken wings and cheese fries. And for the gentleman, chicken parmesan." Our waitress drops our food off. She smiles at me. "I couldn't help but over hear. I hope you have a happy birthday, dear."
"Thank you!"
The stinging aroma of the hot wings fills me and I dig in to my not-so fancy meal at this very fancy restaurant.
After we're done eating we depart for my movie night at Bryant's. Skigh is going to be joining us too. I'm happy everything has worked out between them so far.
"Guys, I really just want to say I appreciate everything you've done for me tonight. You guys light up my life." I feel corny saying it, but it's true.
"Well you've done so much for us over the years, you deserve it. And believe me, our lives would be lame without you." Skigh says from the back seat. Bryant just grins as he drives.
We pull up to Bryant's house and it's unusually dark inside, Bryant must have finally remembered to turn off all the lights when he left. There's also something else that isn't normal, it sounds like someone is play drums. It sounds like a heartbeat. No, it sounds like multiple heartbeats. Someone must be having a pretty rad drum circle.
