My eyes fill with tears of frustration as Seelina shouts at me. "You need to concentrate Tes!"

"I'm trying!" I shout at Seelina, who is getting more impatient by the second. I decided not go to school today, I want to be able to use some of my powers before I see Chance again. At first Sadie was adamant that I go to school so Chance wouldn't get suspicious of us planning anything, but I brought up that he probably thinks I'm scared. And he would be right to think so, I'm terrified. It doesn't help that I keep acting impulsively.

"Try harder!" I squeeze my eyes tight, I'm trying to produce the flames in my hand again. I've been trying for half an hour and I feel a nasty migraine coming on. I know that Seelina isn't being so harsh on purpose, she just wants me to be safe.

"Seelina! Ease up on her okay? Remember she's not like the rest of us, so it's not going to come easy." Ron comes to my defense, he must sense my frustration. I'm slightly irritated that he thinks he needs to save me, but I decide to let it slide. I don't want to start an unnecessary fight.

"You're right, Ron." Seelina nods at Ron. "Tes, I'm sorry. Let's take a five-minute break." Seelina disappears into home, leaving Ron and I by ourselves. I collapse on the grass, not too happy with myself.

"Here, I brought some fresh fruit." Ron offers a bowl to me. I peer inside, it doesn't look like any fruit I've ever seen. "Just try some, it's good I promise."

I pick up a piece of fruit that's green, it resembles a berry or a grape. I pop the fruit into my mouth and chew. The fruit immediately bursts, filling my mouth with the sweetest juice I have ever tasted.

"Oh my goodness! That was so yummy!" I grab more from the bowl and shove them all in my mouth.

Ron laughs. "Cute. Women with goji juice dripping down their chin are the most attractive."

I wipe my chin quickly, embarrassed. "Goji? Is that what you call them?"

"Well sort of. Goji in the human realm would just mean berry. The kind you just ate was Vanyeelgoji." Ron responds informatively. What an odd name, but I guess some of the names we have for things in the human realm must sound odd here as well.

"And what's this?" I point to a red fruit that looks familiar, but I can't tell what it is because it's cut up.

Ron smirks. "That one is the best! It has a very cool name; you probably don't even have them in the human realm."

"Well? What is it?" My curiosity is definitely peaked. Ron leans in close, a huge grin on his face.

"It's an apple." Ron winks and breaks out in laughter.

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Well excuse me for not knowing the ins and outs of Altearis immediately. For all I know, you could have never seen an apple in your life." I glare at his smug, smiling face.

"Even if we didn't have apples here, we would still know about them. We're very educated on the human realm, in fact that's where we started out." Ron says matter-of-factly.

"Really? Or is this another joke?"

"Really. It began as a few humans gaining these impossible abilities, but of course with human nature they became outcasts and they were hunted and murdered with the rest of the "witches." Witches, by the way, were never real. Most of those people killed during the witch trials were just people who were different from the norm."
