Tes
I jolt awake, clutching the locket Bryant gave me. At first, I'm disoriented because it's dark out, but then my eyes adjust. We're still in the forest. Ron's chest rises and falls behind, he's still sleeping, deeply. I scoot away from him, I shouldn't be taking naps with him when Bryant is out there, enduring who knows what. I need to be figuring out ways to get him back.
I check my phone to see what time it is and to give me some comforting light. I'm not a fan of the dark, I never grew out of it from childhood. When my screen lights up there's about twenty messages from my mom. I don't have service in this realm, obviously, so it must have been when I was in the human realm. I've been gone for three days almost, I'm so grounded.
Wow, being grounded doesn't seem so terrifying anymore. I used to hate getting grounded, I always acted like it was the ended of the world. I wasn't aware that things could be much worse. Geez, I was such a spoiled brat.
I should go home, even if I get grounded. There's nothing I can do tonight and I'll just come back tomorrow. I'm going to train; I'll learn how to use my powers and I'll destroy whoever dared to take Bryant. I acted irrationally earlier when I yelled at everyone, now I realize that I have to stay calm. If I make rushed decisions based on fear or anger, we might never get Bryant back.
Ron snorts, making me remember he's here. I gently shake his shoulder to wake him up. That doesn't work so I shake him harder, still nothing. Talk about a deep sleeper. I shove his sleeping body onto the forest floor.
"Ron! Wake up!" I shout.
"Mmhmmph," is all that comes out.
I nudge his face with my shoe. "Get up, Ron! I'm going home now and I don't want to leave you alone in the forest." We don't need him getting kidnapped as well. Ron slowly wakes up and get back on his feet.
We walk back in comfortable silence. I prefer it quiet, so that I can focus on ignoring the pull towards Ron. I do a pretty good job at it until Ron entwines his hand in mine.
I snatch my hand away. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Sorry Tes, I wasn't thinking." Ron says looking apologetic.
"You need to start fighting the urges you're having. The only person I want is Bryant, just because he's not here right now doesn't mean it's open season for you." I come off harsh, but I need Ron to understand. I don't want him.
Hurt registers on Ron's face; I ignore it and keep walking. "Okay." I hear Ron say softly.
As we're walking back, I see a little light pass by my face. I ignore it. I'm probably just seeing things. Two more lights dash by my face. I look at Ron, but he doesn't seem to see what I'm seeing. Another light lands on my nose. I look at it and see it's not a light, but a girl about the size of my pinky. She must be a fairy! She doesn't have any wings, I guess fairies here are different then they are described as in the human realm.
"Hello," I whisper to the little fairy. She has a short brown bob and a dress made from what looks like flower petals weaved together with grass.
"What's your name?" The fairy flies to my shoulder. This is so incredible and she's so beautiful.
"Talina!" The fairy squeaks in my ear. "I know you though. You're Tes! You're our new queen!" Her voice is surprisingly loud for how small she is.
Ron hears me speaking and turns, confusion on his face. He spots Talina on my shoulder and smirks.
