TesI laugh aloud as I watch Bryant glance at his pants to see if his fly is down. That's what he gets for laughing at me. This telepathic speaking thing is fun. I can't wait till I'm able to read minds. I wonder if Bryant still has some stuff he is hiding from me, he better not be. I'm through with being lied to. I should be mad at him for basically lying to me our entire friendship, but I'm not. I understand for the most part why he had to keep this from me.
I finish the mile in seven minutes, which Seelina congratulates me on. I'm surprised I completed it that fast because I was only jogging. I wonder how fast I'd do it if I was running. Bryant did tell me earlier that Stameions were fast, I did realize how until know. That would have been a useful skill to have all the times we ran the mile at school.
"Alright, now that you're warmed up, we are going to start with basic combat. It's important that you watch everything that I do. Your life may depend on it in the future," Seelina admits, scaring me a bit.
We jog over to the field in the middle of the track, on which a large mat has been laid down. I'm not so sure I'm ready for combat, I'm just a clumsy teenage girl. Oh, wait, I'm not clumsy anymore. I have powers. Now the idea of learning to fight doesn't seem so bad.
"Alright, first is your fighting stance; feet apart always, never stand up straight because you are easier to knock over when standing." Seelina gets in the stance and I mimic her.
She wastes no time coming at me. I swing at her and miss. She then grabs my arm and throws me to the ground. She lets me up, and we begin again. This time when I swing, my fist hits her in the face, which doesn't affect her much. Seelina then kicks me in my stomach. It hurts causing me to double over. She uses my pain to her advantage. Seelina lifts me into the air and slams me to the ground, knocking the breath out of me. This is how it is for a while. I get some hits in, but I always end up on the ground. I watch her though. As she fights, I study how she moves and how she attacks.
"Come on, Tes," Seelina says. "You have got to put some power into your fighting! You have amazing strength, use it!"
Seelina trips me, and I land on the ground again. I jump up and face her, getting frustrated with myself. I summon up all my strength and punch her in the jaw, knocking her off balance. I kick out at her legs, and she stumbles. I take that opportunity to lunge at her and bring her down on the mat.
"Nice job," Seelina says breathless.
"Thanks." I'm proud of myself for not being the one on the ground this time.
We work on combat for two more hours. I'm extremely drained; I feel like I'm going to pass out. I took Seelina down a few more times after the first time. I did a decent job for a beginner, or so Bryant and Seelina tell me.
"But you'll never be able to beat me," Bryant says with a smirk.
"I beg to differ." I move towards him slowly, up to no good.
"Oh yeah, well, how about I show-" Bryant doesn't finish because I do a jump kick and hit him in the chest. Bryant hits the ground, hard. I giggle at his fallen form.
"Nice job, Tes, I can see that you'll progress nicely," Seelina says, patting me on the back while laughing.
Bryant gets up of the ground and comes toward me. Uh oh. I start to take a step back.
"Do you think I'm going to let you get away with that?"
Yes I did, but I guess not. Even though I know Bryant would never hurt me, fear starts to build in me but just a little. I start to run.
