"We were runnin' a convoy in one of these trucks." Abraham said to Eugene as he worked on the gas tank. "Comin' up a dune, there's this camel, looks like it's about to puke."
"Why?" I asked. Abraham looked over at me and smiled before looking forward.
"Probably because Shitbird's packed about four pounds of C-4 up its ass."
"I'm glad I asked." I scoffed.
"Ya wanted to know, and I ain't gonna lie about that shit." Abraham chuckled and returned to working on the gas tank. "Anyways, we were within feet of that blast that sent that animal's hump half a click into the desert. And we drove home." Abraham glanced up at Eugene. "So, you tell me how in the holy hell-" Abraham grunted as he crawled out from under the truck. "-did ya possibly kill this truck?"
"A fully amped-up state and an ignorance of rapid-firin' weapons." Eugene replied. I chuckled and Abraham took notice. I thought Eugene was a complete moron, but damn this guy can tickle me pink sometimes.
"What in the Sam's hell are you laughin' at?"
"Hey, I promised you a truck, didn't promise it'd last forever." I sneered.
"Hell yeah it didn't last forever, the truck is more fucked up than a blind man's tackle box."
"Can you fix it?" Rosita asked.
"Sure, if he had the proper tools and know how." I scoffed. "The truck's a bust, I'm sorry."
"Well ain't that just fuckin' great." Abraham growled as he ran his hand through his short, red hair.
"I'm sorry about your ride." Glenn said to Abraham. "Hope you guys make it to Washington." Glenn walked over to his bag and picked it up.
"Hey, wait for us!" I called out before turning to Abraham. "Like ya said, Abraham, like wet on water." Tara and I smiled and began to walk towards Glenn.
"Wait up." I turned around and smiled as Rosita began walking towards us, Abraham glared at us. "What the hell else are we gonna do?"
"Go to Washington." Abraham answered. "Fix the whole damn world!"
"Yeah, and y'all can fix the whole damn world this way where you'll be bound to find another vehicle." I added. "It won't be military, but it'll have four wheels and an intact gas tank."
"That way's clear." Eugene added. "Who know's what's north. We'll find another vehicle. We'll go east with 'em until we do." Abraham turned and glared at Eugene for siding with us. "Trust me, I'm smarter than you." Eugene walked over to the tailgate of the truck and grabbed his bags, Abraham reluctantly followed suit.
"Atta boy, Abraham." I smiled. "Onward to Concord!"
"Shut the hell up." Abraham growled.
♫Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces past, and I'm homebound.♫
Tara started to sing.
