Someone New

Sounding an alarm
To take you away from harm
You've been brainwashed
Your opinion squashed

It doesn't matter if you love you
There will never be anything you can do
To be what the world wants you to be
Don't you see

That being skinny, fat, thick, or thin
Your opinion tossed in a bin
There will always be something wrong
It won't take long

For you to believe that your not right
Blinded, losing sight
That you were beautiful from the start
The world tore you apart

You didn't need to change
But the world counted it strange
That you were okay with your looks
That you loved to read books

That you sat with the "nerds"
That you loved to research birds
That you stayed in your room
Weren't on the road to doom

That all changed when the world took you
There wasn't anything I could do
I tried to talk you out of it
You didn't listen to me one bit

You starting partying with the drunks
Friends with the punks
No longer you, someone new
Did what the world wanted you to
