Beautiful Escape:Chapter Ten

Ajalon.

"Aja wake up! you promised you'd go with me to my appointment." Izzy shook me awake.

Peeking my head up from under the covers I shielded my eyes from the harsh rays of the sun and slightly annoyed her overly eager ass opened the blinds so damn earlier.

"Okay, I'm up." My voice came out horse.

"No being up means being up on your feet and not still laying in bed."

"Fine."

I rose to a sitting position on the bed and rubbed away the sleep from my eyes. Kario didn't drop me off til curfew and then we stayed up on the phone til almost five this morning.

"Well hoochie mama if you hadn't been up all night with lil daddy you wouldn't be so tired." Izzy winked smiling then threw me a towel along with my tooth brush. "Hurry up my appointment is in an hour and we have to catch the bus in thirty."

Story of my damn life.

After a fifteen minute shower, brushing my teeth and throwing on a pair of glove fitting jeans, a black Adidas pullover I took from Kario's closet and a pair of black flip flops I threw my hair into a messy ponytail then grabbed my cross body bag.

"We still have time to catch the bus." Izzy insisted as she threw on a pair of beat up vans.

We were about to walk out the door when Nicki came up the steps. She looked distraught and beat up.

"Oh my goodness Nicki what the hell happened?"

Nicki looked between Izzy and I then walked passed us without a word. Izzy sighed then dragged me to the stop where we just barely made it on time.

"Alright Isabella everything seems to be in order. You know the routine wait right here until the doctor comes in." The older Hispanic lady smiled then disappeared behind the wooden door.

"How often do you have appointments?" I asked playing with the nearby gadgets hanging on the wall.

"After the fifth month I'm suppose to be coming in every month but when Zeus kicked me out and quit paying the bill I had to wing it but now my insurance pays for it."

I nodded my head.

"I really appreciate you coming with me today. I've never really had any girlfriend's growing up or when I was with Zeus so I guess you could say its nice to have someone to talk to." Izzy displayed her flawless smile.

"Well I'm always here and I know once you meet my best friend Jubilee we could get along."

Izzy hopped off the examination bed and gave me a big hug then the doctor came in and cleared his throat. Izzy never missed a beat and immediately took her seat back on the examination bed. The African American doctor chuckled then glanced off at me and did a double take.

"Well now, who do we have here Izzy?"

"Oh doctor Clerk this is my friend Aja. She's also my new room mate at mama Debra's."

My eyes narrowed at Izzy. This was my first time meeting this man and she tells him I'm an orphan.

"Relax Aja, Doctor Clerk and mama Dee go way back."

Doctor Clerk nodded then stuck out his hand and I happily obligated. We exchanged hello's then he started to set up stuff for Izzy's ultra sound. He rubbed a aqua color gel on her baby bump and moved the gel around on her stomach and a loud swishing sound was heard in the dark room followed by a quiet but audible humming.
