Beautiful Escape: Chapter Thirteen

Ajalon.

When Rio dropped me off last night, I couldn't stop thinking about his lips on mine or the way his hands touched my body. Whenever I'm with him, he makes everything seem okay like none of my problems exist. Although he has his flaws, they're what make him special and I love every single one of them.

I always wonder, how I got so lucky to have someone as special as Kario in my life and I'm a nobody. What was it about me that attracted him to me, because I sometimes hated everything about myself. Then I wonder to myself if he's being nice just for sex but he hasn't once mentioned it.

I ask myself question after question about Kario but I always end contradicting myself and letting my insecurities overpower my thoughts. Kario knows so little about me but I know so much about him and he never questions it.

I sat on my bed doing homework, I'd stayed home from because my period came and i was cramping so bad, I'd thrown up at least twice this morning. Since I'd taken some medicine just a little while ago, the cramping wasn't as bad so I decided I needed to catch up on my work.

The knocking on the door cause me to look up. "Come in." I said taking off my glass and smiling at Nicki who had a cup of tea in her hand.

"Mama Debra said this would make you feel better." She sat it down on my dresser.

"Thanks peanut."

Nicki smiled sitting next to me on the bed. She flipped through my notebook and scrunched up her face.

"What's all this?"

I giggled. "It's my trig and chemistry homework."

"It looks hard."

"Not really, some parts are but once you figure it out, its a piece of cake."

"Ajalon, I wanna be as smart as you when I get older."

It warmed my heart to hear her say that.

"Awe, I'm ecstatic that you wanna be like me but you're your own person so be as smart as you know you can be and don't let anyone stop you from achieving your wildest dreams."

"I love you Aja." She hugged my waist.

"I love you too baby doll." Nicki watched me do a couple of problems "Hey, do you know where Izzy is?" 

She shrugged. "I dunno, but mama Debra is hot because she missed curfew last night and hasn't called."

I sighed. "I tried calling her this morning but she didn't answered."

"I hope she's okay." Nicki sighed getting up and closing my door.

I sat down my pencil and tried calling again but I kept getting the voicemail.

Sitting my phone down, it buzzed with a text message from Jasmine, a co-worker letting me know she can cover my shift. I replied then closed my notebook and stuffed it back into my satchel.

Turning the television Izzy and I shared on and a Chris Brown takeover was on so with Kiss Kiss playing and I started singing the lyrics. My phone vibrated on the side of me and I didn't really want to answer it but decided against when I thought of Izzy.

MyRio: How you gon' leave me like that 2:30pm

I laughed shaking my head.

Hi Rio, I'm fine thanks for asking lol 2:36pm

MyRio: My bad luh how ya feelin' you need some cuddle time

Lmao! No that won't be necessary. I'll be at school tomorrow.
