Beautiful Escape: Chapter Sixteen

Ajalon.

I sat on my bed wrapping presents and listening to christmas songs when Izzy came in the room, dragging a couple suit cases. I dropped the tape and eyed Izzy.

"Come on Aja, stop looking at me like that."

I sighed. "Where are you going Izzy?"

"Zeus said I could stay with him since mama Debra doesn't want me here."

"She never said that, she's upset you left and didn't call for almost a week Izzy."

"She hasn't spoken to me since I walked through the door besides cussing me out." She whined.

"Because she was scared, where were you anyways?"

"Zeus saw me at the bus stop and we talked." She shrugged taking stuff out of her drawers.

"After what he did, your gonna take him back?"

"Everyone deserves a second chance."

"But you have a son to think about."

"Listen Aja, I love you but I know what's best for me and my son."

"Well honey, if you like it, I love it. Just make sure you keep in touch so I can meet my god-son."

She came over to my bed and hugged me super tight. I giggled then reached under the bed and handed her silver gift wrapped box with a glitter tied bow on it.

"Oh, Aja you didn't have to." She cheesed with a smile.

"I wanted to, plus you're like the hard headed little sister I've always wanted."

"I love you." She hugged me again.

"I love you too Izzy." I helped her pack her suit cases and we headed downstairs.

Some of the girls we lived with came to say goodbye, even Mama Debra who I knew wasn't thrilled about Izzy leaving, because she was just a baby.

Izzy hugged everyone, saying her goodbyes. When she came to mama Debra, they stared at each other for a little until she fell into her arms. They shared a few tears and we all joined in, making it a group hug. We watched her get into a car and pull away. I sighed as I made my way back to my room and closed the door. I had to finish wrapping these gifts before I went to work.

When I finished everyone's gift, I jumped in the shower and got ready for work. By the time I had pulled my name badge over my head, the door bell rang and I knew it was Kario. I grabbed my clear bag we had to wear to work and jogged down the stairs to see Rio helping Nicki with her homework at the kitchen table.

"Hey babe." I smiled, playfully pinching his waist.

"Wassup toots, you ready?"

I double checked everything in my purse and nodded. "Yes, I think."

"Aight, Nicki when I drop Aja off I want to check that math."

"Okay, thanks Rio." Nicki hugged his waist then hugged me. "Bye Aja."

"Later peanut."

Rio and I walked outside and I locked the door behind me. We climbed in his truck and he took off down the street.

"So babe, I've been saving up and I have almost seventeen hundred dollars saved up and I want to start looking for a car."

"Okay, have you thought about what kind of car you want?"

"A Honda Civic, this guy on Craigslist has one and he only wants a thousand down."

"Well, we can take a look at it sometime this week and have it looked at by a mechanic."
