HermioneDraco and I sat on the bed for a while before he got up. He gathered some clothes and disappeared behind the bathroom door.
He came out a bit later dressed ready to go.
"I have to go on a mission," he told me. "Stay in this room or the bathroom. I will lock the door with every charm I know and I will be back in a few hours."
I was trying to process what he was saying. He kissed me lightly and looked me in the eyes.
"Stay safe, okay?"
"Only if you will," I replied.
"I promise," he told me.
"Then I promise too, that I'll try at least," I smiled.
"I'll be back in a bit," he said, kissing me one last time.
He left the room and I could hear him muttering spells.
I stayed in that spot on the bed for a while. A long while. My stomach hurt a little and I was really bored.
Eventually I forced myself to get off the bed. I spotted a calender on the wall and went to look at it.
June 1st, 2001. I looked at the dates around it and four days later it showed, in green ink, Draco's birthday. I smiled for a moment before glancing at the clock.
Draco had been gone for four hours.
~*~*~
Draco was gone for six hours before I heard him muttering on the other side of the door. The lock clicked and he stumbled in, bruised and bloody.
"Draco!" I exclaimed. "What happened!"
I jumped off the bed and helped him sit.
"I'm fine, just another mission, didn't expect the muggles to fight back," he muttered. "Can you get the potions," he paused for a minute to point, "from that cupboard?"
"Yeah, sure," I replied, rushing to the cupboard.
I pulled out a small box of potions and set them on the bed. He groaned when he moved his arms to grab the potions. I stopped him, trying to ignore the ache in my stomach.
"Let me do it," I muttered, picking up a potion.
He let me pour the potion on his cuts and bruises, cursing often. After a while I finished and put away the other potions.
Draco looked like he was struggling to keep his eyes open.
"You should lay down," I said, running a hand through his hair.
"No, I was going to take a shower," he muttered.
"But you need to rest," I replied, pushing him back on the bed.
He stifled a yawn and slowly sat up.
"I'm fine, you've been alone all day anyway, you probably want to talk," he said.
"Draco Malfoy!" I shrieked. "Your health is more important than mine anyways! You need sleep!"
"Hermione Granger!" He replied with the same tone. "Don't you ever think my life is more important than yours!"
"Well it is!" I countered. "I, don't, matter! Everyone thought I was dead anyway! The world doesn't even know I exist!"
He crushed his lips to mine. The kiss didn't last long because Draco pulled back.
"I want you to stop talking like that, no, I order you to stop talking like that," he ordered.
"Fine... back to the problem at hand, how about a compromise?" I asked.
"What do you mean?"
I pushed him back on the bed and snuggled up to him.
"You sleep, I snuggle," I replied.
He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Sounds good to me."
He closed his eyes and buried his face in my hair. After a minute or two his breathing evened out and he fell asleep. I didn't think it necessary to tell him about the pain in my stomach.
I listened to his heartbeat until I felt the darkness take over.
~*~*~
I woke just to run to the bathroom. I was sick as soon as I lifted the toilet lid.
I expected to see last night's dinner. What I saw instead scared the living snot out of me. Dark crimson blood, covering the toilet. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach making me cry out.
Draco rushed in and looked at the blood dripping from my face.
"Hermione?!" He yelled just before I screamed in pain.
Draco
I felt Hermione jump up from the bed. I sat up and heard Hermione cry out.
I raced off the bed and went to the bathroom. Hermione was doubled over, blood dripping from her mouth.
"Hermione?!" I yelled.
She fell over, screaming in pain.
I jumped forward and lifted her off the ground. I glanced at the toilet and nearly freaked when I saw the blood, lots of blood.
I quickly laid Hermione on the bed and sent a patronus to Theo. I rushed to my cupboard and frantically searched for a potion. I spun around at Hermione's coughing. She was screaming and coughing.
Being relieved was an understatement when Theo apparated beside me.
"What's the emergency?" He asked calmly before looking at Hermione.
He pushed me out of the way and started muttering complicated healing spells.
"Get me a blood replenishing potion and a sleeping drought," he ordered before continuing with the spells.
He put a body bind curse on her and a silencing charm.
I quickly summoned the potion and handed it to him. He set it aside when Hermione started coughing. He turned her on her side and roughly pat her back. An alarming amount of blood spilled from her lips.
"Draco, I need you to apparate to my house, on the desk there's a box, grab it and bring it back," he told me.
I nodded and apparated. I went strait to the desk and grabbed the box. Within seconds I was in my room.
Theo was digging through my potion cabinet. He spun around and took the box from my hands. Hermione was unconscious on the bed. Theo muttered something and the box opened, revealing a collection of potions.
I watched as he set to work.
After a long, long time, Theo stood up. He wiped his forehead on his sleeve and looked at me.
"Your lucky you got me when you did," he said.
"What happened to her?"
"Her stomach literally tore, at least an inch. I guess it gave out and well, you saw the result for yourself," he explained.
"Is she gonna-"
"She's fine," he cut in. "I had to give her three blood replenishing potions and you need to make her take one every six hours today and tomorrow."
"Do you know when she will wake up?" I asked.
"A few hours, likely but don't be worried if it takes a day or so," he replied. "I need to leave, my shift starts in ten minutes. Let me know when she wakes up so I can finish healing her," he told me. "Good luck."
"Thanks for everything," I said.
"It's my job, help people who are hurt. Send word if you need anything," he said before apparating.
