Spock's Point of View - USS Enterprise, Sickbay
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spock had desired to make it his duty to figure out what was happening to Luna. After long hours of discussing and arguing, Spock had been able to convince Kirk to let him lead the investigation. In doing so, he spent more time with Luna and Ray.
Day after day went by and Spock was becoming agitated by their lack of success. Never in his life had Spock been unable to solve something like this. One day Spock gave into an illogical urge. Placing his hand over the left side of Luna's face, Spock began to complete a Vulcan mind-meld, but before he could complete it, his hand was grabbed and jerked away.
"Are you out of your Vulcan mind?!" McCoy looked infuriated as he stared down at Spock, yet he kept his voice down due to the fact that Ray was asleep in the chair on the other side of the bed. Spock gently removed his arm from the doctor's grip and stood up, towering over McCoy.
"Doctor, this is our only option. We have explored every other variable. Please, McCoy, allow me to do this. For her sake."
For once, McCoy was stunned silent. His eyes softened as he thought for a few moments and nodded, before walking back to his office. Spock took his seat once again and replaced his fingers onto Luna's pale skin.
"Your mind to my mind," Spock thought as he shut his eyes. "Your thoughts to my thoughts." A wave of memories flooded Spock's mind as he struggled to grasp a hold over the pain he felt from Luna's past. Years and years of pain that had built up seemed to finally be released and Spock absorbed most of the impact. Spock watched as memories flew past until something caught his eye. He focused on that memory until is surrounded him.
Spock was standing in the same room in which he had found Luna. Luna was strapped to the table as she eyed the man who stood over her. Spock watched as they exchanged words then the man had begun cutting into her. As much as it unsettled Spock, he forced himself to continue watching. Within every incision, the man had placed a tiny mechanical ball.
Before Spock could continue watching, he felt a third presence with him and a wave of pain caused the mind meld to break. Spock opened his eyes and screamed in pain. Holding his head in his hands, he stumbled away from Luna and crashed into the wall on the other side of the room. Ray had awoken and rushed over as McCoy stood in the doorway of his office to see what all the commotion was. His face fell when he saw Spock slide down the wall and curl up into a ball, head in hands, screaming.
