Luna's Point of View - Bridge, USS Enterprise NCC-1701
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the Enterprise came into orbit above their destination, the crew had begun to make preparations to beam down. Luna had been taken to the bridge just as Lieutenant Uhura had gotten a reply from Starfleet. Protection for Luna's planet was now underway.
"Congratulations, Luna. You've made it." Kirk said as he stood to greet her. She looked at him.
"I only wish Ray could be here to see it." Luna looked down as Kirk came to a stop in front of her, a resigned smile coming to her face before she looked back up, a tear making its way down her face. "We couldn't have made it if it weren't for you."
Kirk rested his hand on her shoulder and gave it a squeeze before walking back to his chair to open a channel to the transporter room.
"Are we ready to beam down, Mr.Scott?" The familiar voice of Scotty came through the comm, assuring that everything was 'all ready down 'ere, Capin', yelling at one of the crewman to get off of something before closing the channel. Spock and Kirk exchanged a glance, Spock's eyebrow raised in puzzlement and Kirk's face alight with amusement.
Kirk clasped his hands, turning towards Luna.
"Well then, Luna. Are you ready to go home?" Luna looked around the bridge for the last time, taking in the faces of the people who had been so kind to her. Sulu and Chekov, who were smiling fondly at her. Uhura, who was dabbing her eyes with a tissue. And Spock, who had been the one to rescue her in the first place. Despite being a Vulcan, not showing any emotion that he may have felt, he had allowed himself to smile on her behalf. It was truly a gesture of great magnitude.
Luna felt herself began to cry as she smiled at the generous staff of the Enterprise. She was going to miss them all so much. There was no way to repay them for such an act of kindness. "Well?" Luna looked at Kirk, who had extended a hand towards her "Are you ready to go?" She looked at the gestured hand before grabbing it and nodding.
"Yes" She allowed him to lead her into the turbolift where McCoy was waiting, Spock following behind. "Will I get to see you again?" Kirk smiled at her question.
"I'm sure we can figure something out." Luna smiled wider.
Home was no longer gone.
