Ok, so this is an AU of another story I made, which might explain some of the odd names in the story.

cars sped down busy city streets as people passed by one another under the late summer sun. Light reflected off of the glass panels of skyscrapers, shimmering upon the smooth surfaces and making them glow. A dog trotted contently down the street, the red and brown speckles upon the Australian shepherd dog's white fur seeming to mirror the lighter freckles that covered its handlers dark skin. People wandered to and fro around them, many of them having seen the duo before, as the dog navigated its human companion through the sea of people, the being in question not able to see a single thing in front of them, having been blind for much of their life. They slid out of the mass of people and closer to the nearby buildings. A small cafe occupied the bottom floor of the nearest edifice Thad loomed above them. The duo trotted by the outdoor tables, a few people watching lazily as they drank their coffee or tea. A young waitress smiled upon seeing the two, quickly placing her tray on a nearby empty table before running over to meet them. She hopped up in front of her.

"Hi-ya, season!" Season jumped, tripping over herself and nearly falling flat on her back before the young waitress grabbed her free hand. The dog looked up at her, both expectant and curious. The girl grinned.

"Well, I know I'm charming, but you don't need to fall for me."

"Let me guess, field told you that one?"

"Yep."

The girl pulled season to her feet, dropping their hand as Season dusted herself off slightly.

"River, do you always insist upon startling me?"

"I don't mean to scare you, sea, but you startle so easy!" Season raised an eyebrow, unconvinced.

"Yeah, sorry about that, sea."

"Eh, 's no big deal."

"Well then," River took Season's hand once again," shall we go?"

"Aren't you working until eight? thought it was only five right now."

"Nope, that's not till tomorrow."

"Oh. Alright." They turned to walk down the street, hand in hand, when a familiar male face popped out from within the building, light brown hair tickling the frames of the glasses perched upon his nose.

"Where're you going, Riv?" River turned to face him.

"I'm heading home with Season."

"You don't get off work for another hour, you know."

"Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. Can you cover for me, Quill?"

"River."

"Please, Quill?"

"Oh, fine. But you owe me, Riv."

"Thanks Illy!"

"Don't call me Illy, river."

A ginger head poked out the door next to quill's.

"Ya headin' home with Sea, Riv?"

"Yeah, they just showed up, we're headed out now."

"Ok, tell Sea I said hi! And give Geno a treat for me!"

River turned around with a wave, trotting down the street next to her friend and their guide dog, their hands intertwining with River's own.
