Happy (fairly late) new year! I hope you've been enjoying your 2018 so far! This story is kinda short, but it was a ton a fun to write, so i hope you enjoy,

"None of them worked."
Nearby, a clocktower bell signaled the coming of midnight as Annabell stumbled down the schoolhouse steps, her blue dress somewhat tattered and her long hair in disarray.
"We spent months making those plans, and not a single one of them fucking worked!" She leapt off the bottom step and to the ground as Bee followed just a few steps behind, their suit scorched and slightly torn. They placed a hand on Annabell's shoulder as the duo began to walk down the street.
"I know Anna, I know."
"Twelve plans, Bee. twelve different plans to get those two gods-damned idiots to dance together, some of them even involving the fucking gods, and nothing! Nothing at all!"  She waved her arms angrily as she spoke. Bee sighed.
"Well, maybe it simply wasn't meant to be."
Bee continued down the sidewalk as Anna paused.

"Not meant to be?"
Anna raced ahead of Bee before turning to face them, walking backwards as she spoke so she could stay ahead.
"not meant to be!?!"
"Yes Anna, that is what I said."
"Bitch, its May. We've been planning since fucking December. I didn't study for my Spanish final so we could work on this! Nearly half of the student body was in on this, not to mention the four gods and ten fuckin' magical creatures that were involved in this too! The whole layout of the dance was so some of these plans would work! And thats not even mentioning the favors I had to trade in that i will never get back, or the dresses and suits you made for us that had to be fucking ruined to get one of the plans to work!" Bee stopped, gazing in the window of the late-night cafe next to them.
"We spent not just our time, also other people's time just to get at least one, just one of the plans to work. We put so much time and effort into trying to just get them to dance, and nothing Bee, nothing! Not meant to be my ass, they were-" Bee clamped a hand over Annabell's mouth before pointing at the window.

Anna followed her friends gaze to a small table in the corner.

Two very familiar boys sat in slightly scuffed up suits, mugs on the table between them. One had curly brown hair that fell into his face as he laughed. The other boy smiled, tucking a strand of dirty blond hair behind his ear. Bee pulled their hand away from her mouth as Anna noticed the boys' hands intertwined beneath the table.
"Well Annabell," said Bee, "it looks like we didn't need to intervine after all."

Anna continued staring at the boys, who remained oblivious to the duo outside.
She blinked.

"Are you fucking serious!"

(Honestly Annabell rambling is a mood)
