I finished off my food in a matter of minutes and started up my car, ready to leave. Although, I had to sink into my car seat as I saw Cameron and his friends open the Time Horton's exit door. I saw the trio making their way over to the vehicle beside me; a Ferrari. How did I not notice that?
Subconsciously, I brushed a lock of hair behind my ear. The trio neared closer to me and my heart hammered in my chest. I'm so dramatic. Just as I was about to go into reverse, I stopped myself and rested my hand on my soft brown leather covered steering wheel. No. I wasn't going to let him scare me. He should be scared of me and not the other way around. I'm the one who hurt Cameron, so he should be afraid of what I might do next. He's making me regret ever standing up to him and that's someone I thought I knew I was never going to do.
He thinks he's going to get revenge? I'm going to show him who he's playing with because the little miss Katie Hursh spitfire doesn't take shit from anybody. I sat up straighter in my seat and stuck out my chin defiantly, not that any of them could see. Although, it was quite the confidence booster.
Cameron and his friends passed my car and opened the doors of the Ferrari next to me. Cameron easily slipped into the driver's seat. After a few silent moments, I realized something and I smirked. Cameron Carters is out of gas.
Knowing fully well that now that their Ferrari is of no use, the three had no ride back to school. Serves Cameron right. As for Jason and the stranger, I felt a twinge of sorrow. I probably would've offered them a ride if Cameron hadn't been there. Jason gestured to my vehicle and I nearly choked on my straw. The three hopped out of the shiny red Ferrari and sauntered towards me. I gulped. Had they seen me?
I guess there's only one real way to find out. Cameron and the other two stood in front of my side view window. Cameron leaned down and his dog chain necklace dangled in mid air, while his shirt lowered. God, he was muscular. He put his hand into a fist and knocked on the tinted glass pane. I took in a deep breath and hesitantly scrolled the window down.
I hope Cameron doesn't have a habit of spitting while yelling.
"Hi, that's my Ferrari over there," he jerked his head towards the Ferrari and continued.
"And I'm out of gas, so I was hoping you could-- you?" Cameron widened his eyes in disbelief.
As much as I wanted to deny it, Cameron looked drop dead sexy at the very moment. Too bad he was such a jerk. Talk about a turn-off.
"Yes, me. What do you want?" I snapped. Cameron glared at me.
"Nothing." Cameron lied, clearly not wanting my help. I rolled my eyes; he's so childish.
Jason also rolled his eyes and moved closer to me, pushing Cameron back in the process.
"What Cammy means to say is that he is an idiot and didn't fill up before coming to school," He pointed to Cameron who glowered as a response. Did that boy have no other facial expression?
"So we have no ride and were wondering if we could hitch a ride from you." Jason finished with a wink. Did he really think flirting with me was going to get him a ride? Despite Jason's question, I had a question of my own that I wanted an answer to.
"Who's Cammy?" I asked, innocently. Cameron shifted his steely gaze to Jason, silently pleading him to say nothing. Jason smirked, but stayed quiet.
The stranger from the party opened his mouth to explain.
"Cammy's the nickname Jason and I made for Cameron a few years back. He hates it." I looked over at Cameron. Cameron's eyes were set in stone, no expression showing.
Ah, Jason and Cameron already knew each other before school started. That explains a hell of a lot. I was about to further interrogate when Jason exasperatedly spoke up.
"Are you going to give us a ride to school or what? We're going to the same damn jail anyway."
I laughed at his usage of words. Jason smirked, while the stranger held an amused expression. However, Cameron looked like he was about to go onto a murdering spree. I thought my answer over.
"I'll give the both of you a ride, just not that jerk." I pointed at Cameron.
Cameron looked at me raised an eyebrow, as if daring me to continue. I didn't take the bait.
"Sounds good to me." Jason smiled happily.
"Same here." This time it was the stranger who spoke.
Cameron looked disbelievingly at them.
"Whatever, its not like I even wanted a ride in that piece of shit."
I rolled my eyes. I didn't take the comment offensively, for I knew my car was the best and newest model there was. You can never go wrong with a Mercedes. Jason and the stranger quickly seated themselves in the back seats. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Cameron stalking off to god knows where. I ignored the lump in my throat.
Slowly, I thought of something. My eyes flickered to the backseat. Apparently, I had been staring for too long because Jason spoke up.
"What? Did I leave you in the middle of a hook up or something? Because I'm sorry; I'm a bad drunk." He smirked lazily and eased into his seat. Surprisingly, I laughed.
"No. Annoying isn't really my type. I was just wondering if Cameron was the one who started the rumour about me coming onto him?"
You see, the rumour that I had been talking about earlier had since escalated, according to a text from Rexie, saying that Cameron and I also hooked up. I have much more class than that. I don't know why, but something tells me that the person behind this rumour is none other than Cameron himself. He wants to make my skin crawl. I just know it. Still, I know it might just be a shot it the dark and it probably isn't him, as he wouldn't want to be connected to me in any way possible but I figured that I might as well ask.
The silence in the air was thick.
"Well?" I arched an eyebrow while driving, even though neither of them could see me.
"You want us to help get revenge on Cameron, don't you?" The party stranger said quietly.
So he did start the rumour.
That slimy bastard.
"Yes, will you help? I swear it'll nothing too humiliating or mean. I just want to warn him to not pull that sort of thing on me." I tried convincing the two, wondering if my attempts were futile. After a moment of silence, Jason spoke up.
"I'll help, but only because he deserves it for basically calling you a slut, which by the way, I had no part in." I nodded, agreeing enthusiastically with what he said.
"I'll help as well, but only because he deserves a taste of his own medicine but if he retaliates and humiliates you or something, don't say I never warned you." The party stranger put in his two cents and I sighed in relief.
Now that I have Cameron's closest friends on my side, nothing can stop me from teaching that jerk a lesson.
Hooked up with him, my ass.
After reaching the school, Jason and the stranger, who I learnt was Kyle Bennington, exchanged goodbyes with me. As soon as they began walking away, I felt guilt creeping in again. I shouldn't have left Cameron behind like that even though his friends seemed perfectly fine with that. That's not the way I was raised. I've always been taught to be kind. I know it's not the kindest thing to pit Cameron's friends against him, but the least I can do is not leave him stranded in a town he barely knows.
I checked the time, realizing I still had 30 minutes to spare. It takes 10 minutes to get to Tim Hortons and another 10 to get back. If I go back for Cameron, I should make it on time.
Thus, instead of doing what I still believe I should've done, I went back.
