they sat on the table, along the glass windows, far to the corner of the cafe they are in. the aroma of the coffee gave the place a warm and calm feeling. irony that she felt cold and kept on wiping her sweaty palms to her plaid skirt.
her gaze fell on the guy in front of her, eyes focused outside like carefully assessing the scenario as he silently sip on his coffee. she wet her chapped lips as she spoke suddenly.
"my brother did it."
his eyes slowly shifted yo her as he puts down his cup. he rested his both arms on the table showing his eager to listen and all his ears was hers.
"your brother did what?"
"my glasses, he's the reason why it's broken."
he didn't respond and gave her a look, urging he to talk more and go on. she dropped her gaze and began fumbling with the cup's handle. she smiled sadly as she opened her story.
"my family is never the rich one, still we are contented. we were happy as long as we're together, even if we got nothing to eat. we fit for each other, hand in hand until my mother died. our father still managed to keep the aura bit my brother and i knew more. he pretended everything is alright and we pretended we believe."
"until the accident. it was so see sudden, we didn't expected it. he even baked is cake and prepared so much for the morning. his happiness, we know it's genuine but maybe it really wouldn't last. it was only a fleeting moment because when i came back from school, my brother was crying, saying my father got hit."
her tears began slipping, what was once only peeping through her eyelids. she didn't bother wipe it and just let it be.
"been months that he was in a state of coma. i was going to school because i have to and i need to and not because i want to. it was devastating, watching your father's limp body, lifeless but i kept on talking to him because they said it'll help him recover. but he never did. he gave up and i felt relieved. it hurts but I was satisfied knowing he will suffer no more."
"but i hope i didn't say to father that it's okay to let go and leave. I wished I never said he can rest. because the moment it went flat line and the time we buried him, I didn't know I didn't just lost my father. i lost my brother too."
