ALDEN POV
Brooklyn ruined the moment. It was nice, and he came and made it weird. But when she backed away from me, scowling like that, I got angry too.
"We had some fun last night didn't we Jaimie?" I joke. She meets my eyes. First she's confused, and then her nose scrunches and her lip curls.
"No." She states, voice hard as stone, but turning bright red.
"Oh, I think we did. We were in your room and I had to climb through your window to get out." I carry on, watching Brooklyn's face.
"F*ck you." She spits at me, "Why are you doing this?"
"Well, please enlighten us." Jordan laughs, poking me in the arm. I turn to him and raise my eyebrows threateningly. This is between us now.
"Which bit was a lie?" I challenge. Jaimie looks murderous, but she shoots me a look and gives Brooklyn a sweet smile, another of her 180 mood swings. She goes so fast with so much control.
"No, I'll tell you. Alden was looking through my window when I was in bed, and he knocked on my window and begged me to go out with him. I agreed, out of pity. He chickened out anyway, and then he forgot his house key because he's an idiot." She rolls her eyes. I shake my head while Brooklyn and Jordan burst out laughing. Just to add insult to injury, Shawn walks over.
"What happened?" He asks, voice forming around the apple he's biting into.
"Well..." Brooklyn launches into the story, embellishing Jaimie's already extreme version. I shake my head and interject.
"I wasn't watching her get dressed! She was on her bed-" I stop myself when she looks at me vulnerably. She lifts her eyes to mine slowly, a silent plea. She wouldn't tell me why she was crying. I don't want to spread that.
"-listening to music." I finish. She thanks me with a look, then we return to the conversation.
"So, Alden begged her to go out with him." He concludes then turns to Jaimie, a look of realisation dawns on his face.
"Did you kiss him?"
Her mouth drops open and her eyes are wide. She looks at me menacingly.
"No. I never said that." I clarify. She doesn't cool down though.
"Then where did he get that idea from?" She hisses. Meanwhile, Brooklyn has gone silent.
"Woah! He never said that." He interrupts.
"Then who did?"
"Nobody. He was just... Wondering."
"Wondering? Who the hell said that?" She carries on. We all shrink back, but my pride and their dare is at risk, so we keep up the lie.
"Nobody. They have just noticed how you stare at me all the time and thought that I might've hooked up with you. Happens all the time." I shrug. I thought she would forget the threat with the insult, but something tells me it didn't work despite the change of subject.
"Fine. Has everyone seen the football team notice board?" She asks with a curious smile. They all look at each other and dash off down the hall.
JAIMIE POV
Alden follows but I grab his arm.
"There is nothing on the board," I tell him. He looks at me in confusion.
"I need to talk to you," I explain. He stops and moves towards me. I shuffle back a little.
"What's up?" He asks, voice rough and quiet.
