We're at The Break Man Coffee shop. "Your, uh, half caf, double vanilla latte's gettin' cold over here, Frances," Dean says.
"Bite me," Sam says, coming back from the payphone.
"So, anything?" I ask, drinking a mocha.
"I even checked the FBI's missing person's databank. No John Does fitting Dad's description. I even ran his plates for traffic violations," Sam says.
"Sam, I'm tellin' ya, I don't think Dad wants to be found," Dean says. "Check this out. It's a news item at a planes courier. Ankeny Iowa, only a hundred miles from here."
"Mutilated body was found near the victim's car, parked on nine mile road," Sam reads.
"Keep readin'," I say.
"Authorities are unable to provide a realistic description of the killer. The sole eye witness, whose name has been withheld is quoted in saying the attacker was invisible," Sam reads.
"Could be something interesting," Dean says.
"Could be nothing at all. One freaked out witness who didn't see anything doesn't mean it's the invisible man," Sam says.
"But what if it is?" I ask.
*****
We're driving. I'm on my Harley. Eli calls, "Yo, a new search for a description came in. Was that y'all?"
"Sam," I say.
"Ah," Eli says. 'Where ya headin' to?"
"Ankeny Iowa. Invisible man or something," I say.
Eli laughs, "In that case, stay safe. Love ya."
"Love you too," I hang up.
*****
"So, I'm thinkin' I go get a room while you check out his dorm," I say. "Cuz I certainly don't wanna go into a mosh pit of testosterone."
Sam chuckles. Dean smirks, "Sure thing, babe. We'll meet you at the room and tell ya what we know."
"Got it," I smile, pecking him on the lips.
*****
After getting the room, Dean calls, "Hey, Ellie. Meet us at St. Bartimus Church in ten. The girl he was dating, Lori Sorenson, her father's a reverend."
"Got it," I say, gearing back up. "See ya in a few. Love you."
"Love you too," Dean says.
*****
"They think it's some psycho with a knife. Some drifter passing through," Sam says as we walk into the church.
"-what this tragedy means to us as a church," the reverend is speaking as we step in. The door slams behind us. Everyone looks back at us before the reverend continues, "As a community, and as a family. The loss of a young person is particularly tragic. A life unlived is the saddest of passings." We sit down in the back pews. "So please, let us pray for peace, for guidance, and for the power to protect our children." People bow their heads in prayer, Sam included. He nudges Dean and we hold hands and look down at our shoes.
*****
Everyone's clearing out of the church. We walk up to a girl in green. "Are you Lori?" Sam asks.
"Yeah," Lori says.
"My name is Sam. This is my brother Dean and his girlfriend, Elisa," Sam says.
"Hi," I say.
"We just transferred here, uh, to the university," Sam says.
"I saw you inside," Lori says.
"We don't wanna bother you, we just . . . heard about what happened," Sam says.
