"You just had to make a great first impression, didn't you Ruri?" Kankuro said sarcastically, munching down on a stick of dango. We were in some random dango shop. I just watched him chug down his food, ignoring what was on my plate."Not like I'm staying there forever." I pointed out, and he merely sighed at me.
"Look kid, I know you don't want to be here, but you atleast have to try." He urged, but I couldn't care less. I mean I don't have to try to do anything. This whole thing wasn't even my idea.
"Whatever..." I mumbled, then remembered that we were here for a reason."What was it that you wanted to talk about?"
"Oh, that..." He began, trying to figure out what to say next. Most likely stalling. "Before we get into that, can you promise to hear out everything I have to say first?"
I took a bite of dango, which wasn't too bad, then I looked back to him."I'm not making any promises."
"Figures... Anyways the Council has been nagging Gaara about a certain subject lately." He said.
I shot him a questioning look as he continued,"Temari and I think this will be good for him aswell."
"And this concerns me because..."
I trailed off for him to finish."A legacy. They want him to have a legacy." He finshed, deciding that it'd best to be a bit more straightforward.
I stared at the Suna ninja for a moment. My eyes soon widened in shock as soon as realization dawned on me. "You guys can't be possibly thinking that-"
"Oh, but we are." He interrupted. "You're not being forced into anything, but please, atleast think it through."
"But why me?" I asked, beyond confused. "Out of all the kids there are, why me? You guys can get a chirpy kid, that likes to play dress up, and sip imaginary tea!"
"You share the top spot along with Yoshi Ito." He said.
I scoffed at that. There's no way that little idiot can be that skillful. Guess I shouldn't have really underestimated him. Well, who can blame me?
"Why would I even want to agree to that?" I crossed my arms, glaring dead at him.
"Because believe it or not kid, you need him just as much as he needs you." He stated.
I once again became flummoxed, but I quickly became defensive,"I don't need him, or anybody else for that matter."
"You must think you're the best actor in the world." He rolled his eyes at me. I didn't know what that meant, but I didn't really care."Sometimes you don't think you need help, like you don't need anybody else in this world.
But one day you'll soon realize you need people in your life who you can trust. You just can't be afraid to take someone's hand and let them guide you out of that dark place you're in.""Why does everyone keeps saying that?!" I yelled frustratingly. He seemed supriesed by my outburst. "What makes you think I need help? I'm perfectly fine, I can take care of myself. I am better off alone."
"Just trust us." He tries, but I shook my head.
"I trust no one."
"Then atleast listen. Atleast try." He said."I may not understand, but if anyone does it's Gaara. You may not trust us, but atleast try to trust him. He knows what it's like..."
I thought for a moment. Did I really have anything else going for me? Where was I going to go after this month passes? I had nowhere to go, and like I said before I didn't really care where I went. If I stay, I wouldn't have to just keep walking, and trying to survive in some random woods.
