Chapter 4
In the Hellicarrier
Bruce POV
"A teenage girl" Bruce mumbled as he laid the girls stick on the lab desk.
"A magical teenage girl," He was still processing the information he had just been given about the meet with the girl. How could a 17-year-old girl have been the source of energy, which is very similar to the tesseract?
When the rest of the Avengers had arrived back Bruce had not expected Thor to be carrying the small unconscious teenage girl, the rest of the team following close behind. Thor had taken the girl straight to the infirmary where they treated her bullet wound. She had then been taken to the same cell Loki had been in and was now lying still on the floor. And of course, Tony and Bruce had been given the job of, again, testing the stick.
Bruce kept on glancing at the screen that showed the girl. Yes, it was possible, but it had just never happened before. And that this energy had just appeared out of nowhere was weird. SHEILD has had this technology for ages and they had only now just found this girl. Bruce wondered how SHEILD nor Tony or him had picked up not this in the last 3 years since New York. Since then everyone had worked harder to upgrade technology and searching for new things to help them or that could be dangerous. This girl she was just... Weird.
"How the hell did this girl do those ice things to Captain's feet?" Tony asked waking Bruce from his own thought. Bruce turned and lightly grazed his fingers along the hard wooden surface.
"Nothing has checked out. Every single test we've done, nothing has happened. It's just a stick." Tony continued, "Oh and it glowed when she held it but now it's just a FRIGGING STICK!"
"No idea" Bruce said slumping down in the nearby chair rubbing his forehead.
At the moment Bruce sat down Clint walked in, frowning as he was reading a thin folder in his hands. He looked tired or maybe worried, Bruce could never tell what all these spy's were feeling, even after spending all this time with them.
"We found some stuff on her," Clint said blankly opening the folder. The folder contained a few scattered photos and articles from old newspapers as well as the same personal info sheet SHEILD had for everyone. Bruce picked up a photo and peered closely at it.
"Though not much as we would want to," Clint added.
The photo was of the girl who was covering her face from the camera, clearly not wanting it taken. The photo looked old. Really old, as if taken with a Camera from at least 30 years ago. And even the clothes the other people were wearing, in the background looked like the 80s.
"It seems that our mysterious girl is Miss Katherine Frost. Clint said making both Bruce and Tony peer over his shoulder at the sheets of paper he was holding.
"Katherine has been in many places over the last 10 years. And its seems Katherine is older than we think. She still looks the same as she did in the 70s as she does now. She's been everywhere, though always small towns. From towns in Alaska, Mexico, Egypt, Corsica, New Zealand and about a dozen other places as well. No plane tickets - of course. She also seems to do things, small things, but they have seemed to get her in the newspaper nearly everywhere." Clint said reading off one of the sheets.
"What kind of things are in these newspapers?" Tony asked picking up some of the newspaper clippings.
"Things from getting in bar fights with motorcycle gangs and thugs to saving cats from trees for old women. And it's funny; she disappears from each place as soon as Katherine is noticed." Clint chuckled but Bruce didn't really see what was funny.
"She seems to like buying big house's which we checked out as well as the dates she bought or rented further we can go back to 1976. And every time she leaves a town she doesn't turn up for another 14 months, at the shortest." Clint finished closing the folder in his hands.
"Uhh, what about her family? Surely she must have someone, somewhere, right?" Bruce asked.
"Nope. We can't find anything on any one related to her. We looked to see if she was on any missing person websites or even wanted for crimes but there is nothing on her." Clint answered.
"So a girl, who looks like a teen but could be in her 30s or even 40s, has powers, can fly, goes from place to place, only possession is a stick and no trace of where she came from or family." Bruce summed up.
"Yeah that's pretty much it." Clint shrugged.
"No birth date?" Tony asked.
"Nope. None we can find." Clint said slipping a photo back into the folder.
Bruce nodded and turned to the sound of hurried footsteps from the hallway. The silver doors slid open and Natasha walked in looking calm and composed as usual.
"She's awake."
