Chapter 8
Asgard
Thor's POV
Asgard would always be Thor's home and he wanted it to be Jane's home too. But Thor loved earth and coming back to Asgard held memories that upset Thor merely by the thought. The golden castle sat directly in front of the Biftost and it was the first thing you always saw when coming from another realm. Walking through the streets for a change Thor greeted the common folk and wondered through the market.
Thor knew he should be going straight to his father but it was nice just to slowly walk for a change. He couldn't remember the last time he was just relaxing in Asgard. Whenever he was back his mother was always making him run about and his best friends, the warriors three and Sif, they were always asking for more battles and adventures.
Using some shiny gold coins Thor brought a large pastry that he ate as he made his way finally to the palace. Thor's red cape swished back and forth as he strode towards his father's throne room. Wiping the crumbs off his clothes he almost forgot the reason he had come home. As he came to the steps before the throne he gracefully kneeled, straight back, head down.
It had only been 6 earth months, which was nothing for Asgardians, since Thor was in the golden palace which he called home. Thor breathed in the smell of the castle. It always seemed to smell of lavender or mint, probably thanks to his mother.
"Rise" Odin commanded.
Thor rose to meet his father's calm eyes and made his way up the steps to greet him.
"Father!" Thor bellowed and smiled, hugging Odin in his huge arms.
"Thor, my son! Not that I am not glad to see you but why are you here? We were not expecting you back from Midgard for a while longer. Is something wrong?" Odin asked carefully. But Thor could see that his father already had heard or seen what had happened. But he told him anyway.
"I am not sure father. You see, a few days ago on Midgard, they found an energy source who turned out to be a girl named Katherine Frost. That name sounded familiar to me and I do not know where from. Nicolas Fury of SHEILD did not approve of me bringing her to Asgard to see if you knew her which I would of liked to do. But I was hoping you could help me." Thor stated.
Thor carefully watched his father's expression and it changed as soon as Thor mentioned Katherine Frost.
"You know something, do you not?" Thor questioned. Odin seemed to awake himself from his thoughts. His father looked confused but it was quickly covered with a small smile.
"Thor!" A familiar voice called. Thor turned and to embrace his mother who he hadn't even noticed walk in.
"Mother" Thor boomed. He hugged his mother tightly and breathed in... Lavender. Yes it was definitely his mother's doing.
"What are you doing back? Has something happened?" His mother asked softly staring into Thor's eyes, one hand on his shoulder.
"I came to ask about Katherine Frost. Do you know her?" Thor asked, yet again. His father hadn't said a word since he mentioned her and he was beginning to get worried and a bit annoyed. His mother smiled widely and looked between her husband and son.
"You have met the Katherine Frost? Don't you remember any of those lessons I taught you and your brother." She softly hit Thor's arm as if scolding him. Thor was surprised his mother had even mentioned his brother. That must have been the first time in 3 Midgardian years.
"She is powerful and oh she is a lovely one that girl. Though the tricks she can play..." Thor watched as his mother's smile faded at the reminder of Thor's brother but she replaced it with a smile brighter than the last. She looked again at her husband who nodded. Thor was beyond confused at this point.
"Father why do you not speak after I mentioned her name?" Thor asked looking at his mother for guidance. His mother rested a comforting hand on his father's arm and Thor could see a whole unspoken conversation was just exchanged through their eyes.
"I met her when you were a boy. I thought she was dead. I haven't even heard a whisper about her. Why has she only been found now?" Odin said smiling. Thor remembered Katherine's words.
"I don't remember anything from life before the lake. Even if there was one."
"I think she may have forgotten her life. She told us that she woke up beside a lake and could not remember anything but her name." Thor explained. If only he could bring her here. She could learn about herself.
"I think I know someone who can help you on Midgard." Odin said as he led Thor out the room.
