Chapter 17

Kat's POV

Kat knew she would have to explain what she had just done, but to be honest she couldn't be bothered. Who cares if she can do stuff they didn't know about? They didn't have to know all her secrets, not when she didn't know half of them herself. After searching for a few minutes she had finally found a bottle of rum, though it was disappointing as it was only the one. She would have to have Tony invest in some better drinks if she was staying.

Wait, was she? She didn’t want them to get hurt not when putting people in danger seemed like a normal thing with her. Taking a gulp from the bottle Kat pulled out a second bottle of whiskey, popped the cap and poured the burning liquid on her chest. She hissed loudly dropping the half empty bottle back on the table. The bullet wound was already healing thanks to her mysterious powers but that didn't mean it hurt any less. She didn't think that people grasped the concept that healing powers were different for each person. Kat once saw a guy who could regenerate parts of his body and bleed so often he wore only red. Another guy didn't bleed as much and could heal from any wound while pushing out multiple bullets from his body at the same time. There were many different types of healing powers and Kats was fast and messy and taking care of it always helped the process.

She watched as the now red whiskey splashed on the floor and Kat leaned forward on the table and put her head in her hands. Drops of thick blood dripped below her and started to form a pool that covered the marble titles. Her life kind of sucked didn't it? Would she forever be hurt only to heal and repeat the process until she finally snapped? Jeez… that was poetic.

She could feel the skin and muscles repairing its self and she felt a hand on her arm. She lurched up grabbing the arm and shoving it away while flipping her staff to her hands and aiming it at their chest. Tony grunted loudly and Kat stood down stepping away from him instantly. Maybe she was snapping already.

"Sorry. I'm still a bit wound up." She admitted as Tony rubbed his wrist and smirked at her.

"Surprised you can still react that fast with the amount of my alcohol you just consumed." He laughed gesturing to the two empty bottles. Hey, one of them was all over her chest but yes, that other one she had downed in a few seconds upon opening. She didn't realize that she had stood over the table for more than a few minutes. She noticed agents from SHEILD cuffing the men outside and that Tony had taken off his suit and she soon realized so had the others. They were all either outside helping or sitting down resting in the lounge. She wondered if anyone was hurt and hoped to god they weren't. She had hurt enough people in her existence.

"Just needed to tell you, your guy got away." Tony said patting her on her back and watched as Bruce came back in from outside now fully clothed and made his way over to her standing awkwardly before her.

"Thank you." He said after a few brief seconds looking down at his shoes. She laughed and then cringed as Bruce noticed the blood by his feet. Oh god.

"Wait, are you okay? You need medical help now, Tony help me take her to the lab and you," He fussed and demanded grabbing an agent by the arm, "Get a med team down there now." He ordered franticly as Kat protested but Tony picked her up and ran with her to the lab where they sat her down on one of the lab tables. They were rambling, almost shouting instructions at each other to patch her up and gaining the attention of both Thor and Loki who had stood near the stairs when she was kidnapped.

"Wait, I'm fine." She said trying to free herself but was being held down by Thor who gave her apologetic look and forced her arms to her sides.

"Hey, stop, I'm not hurt." Kat repeated and tried to get their attention but all of them were too busy running around grabbing tools and bandages.
