I opened my eyes and groaned, my back aching as I sat up, leaves crunching beneath me. It was pitch-black around me, but I could see the night sky if I looked up in between cracks of what looked like a wooden door of some sort. There was a ladder leading up to it and I climbed it, beating on it with my fist, but it didn't open, the sound of metal clunking against it echoing in whatever hole I was stuck in, signaling I was locked in here. A small whine caught my attention and I hopped down the ladder, squinting my eyes to try and peer through the darkness. I saw a smallish figure in the corner and bent beside it, setting a hand on it, feeling soft, familiar fur.
"Chica," I called and she whined a little again. I frowned and felt around my pockets, finding my phone. I turned it on, seeing it had a low percentage and no signal. I opened the flashlight app and switched it on, light replacing the darkness and allowing me to see Chica, who was on a tight leash, not able to stand or move out of the position she was in. I took off her collar, not wanting to bother with the knot tied through it and freed her. She stood and started kissing around my face as I enveloped her into a hug. "It's okay, girl, you're okay."
She whined softly in response, showing her discomfort of being within this place. I heard footsteps approaching us and kept quiet, unsure who it could be other than the idiots that put me here. I heard the lock being messed with and what sounded like a chain falling to the ground. I wondered if I could overthrow them and manage to escape, but I doubted it'd be that easy. The wooden cover/door opened and Eli stepped down the ladder, closing it behind him, carrying a lantern, a bag slung over his shoulder. He stepped down and set the lantern down, Chica growling at him.
"Calm down, Chica," I soothed her and she obeyed, falling silent. I finally had my first glance at the place I was trapped in and noticed a dirty mattress in the corner with a thick blanket on top of it that was covered in leaves. There was no floor, only ground, which was covered in leaves that must've blown down here when fall began. A wooden table sat near Eli, where he placed the lantern. I didn't bother to hide the shocked expression over my face, knowing this meant I'd be here awhile.
"Told Jack Chica was hit by a car and you had to take her to the vet and probably wouldn't be back until morning," Eli told me and a chill ran down my spine, remembering this seemed eerily similar to when I abducted Felix and told everyone a friend of his was in an accident. "I'll come up with something better later - thankfully he's gullible."
"Don't you dare touch him," I growled, but he just rolled his eyes.
"Shut up or you don't get food for the night," He threatened and I figured it was my best bet to listen to him and be good for the time being. "Good."
"I've been planning this for awhile," Dark spoke, smirking. "At first, I was going to use that Swedish guy's meat bag, but decided Eli would make a better fit."
"What the fuck do you want?" I sneered and Dark laughed again.
"What we've wanted all along," Dark purred and stepped closer to me, making me step back.
"I want what you have because what's yours is mine," Eli snapped, taking another step closer to me. I felt the wall behind me, thinking I was royally fucked. "Your demon, mine. Your cabin, mine. Your lover, mine."
"Oh, please, you can have Dark all to yourself," I rolled my eyes. "But you are not going to take my home and you're definitely not going to take Jack, do you hear me?!"
"I hear you loud and clear, kid," Eli laughed, as if holding his age against me, mocking me for being younger than he is.
"It's already too late, Mark. Look around you, you're stuck. It's time you get a taste of your own medicine," Dark chuckled and I frowned, wondering what that entailed.
"If you're talking about the ping, that was Dark's fault," I defended myself and Eli bit his lower lip.
"Yes, I am aware. I wasn't lying, I do have the ping, but Dark and I have been getting along much better than expected."
"Don't flatter yourself, meat-suit. The only reason why I'm teaming up with you is because we're more powerful together and we want the same thing," Dark rolled their eyes. It was so strange watching the two talk, especially argue. It looked as though he had multiple personalities and was arguing with himself.
"Can you guys go argue elsewhere if I'm not getting out of here?" I groaned before they took another step closer to me and I remembered my back was to the wall. "Well, fuck."
"Shut up," Eli snapped and grabbed the collar of my flannel. "Look, asshole, I need you here. Otherwise the ping goes crazy and I feel like I'm being burned alive."
"Fuck off! If Jack wanted to be with you in the first place, he would've been! But you hit him twice, twice! Once you do it, you never fucking stop! You think it's okay? You think it's alright to hit someone so innocent to the world? You're a piece of shit and I will never forgive you for laying a hand on him-"
"Stop talking about my toy or I swear I will kill you where you stand," Dark threatened in a much deeper voice than usual, that intimidated me into my rightful, cowardly place.
"I know what I did to Sean wasn't right, but it happened. I made a couple mistakes, just like everyone else in this world. At least I never killed anyone," He defended himself and I sighed, knowing that wasn't an argument I could win. I pushed passed them and sat on the mattress, Chica laying down on it next to me. Eli left the bag on the table before heading back up the ladder, leaving the lantern behind. "I wouldn't waste all that oil at once."
With that, he left, locking the door afterwards. I am truly and utterly fucked.
