"Hello, hello, hello, my sweet little babies," The psychic, Madame Azzara, Jack had found online, greeted us once we stepped into the tent she used for her work. She was the only 'psychic' in town, so we figured we'd give it a shot. She suddenly frowned and gestured for us to sit down in the two oversized chairs in front of a table, the other side having another chair for herself, which she took. Her expression was far more serious now as she looked to me. "You have done many wrongs."
"Uh-huh," I agreed a bit skeptically and she turned to Jack, smiling. I frowned and thought, 'What the actual fuck?' as she beamed at him.
"You have such a bright and beautiful soul. Your aura is a wondrous orange - you are a giving person, very great-hearted, and charming. Please remember to be patient, sweet baby. You often can't sleep because you're ready for the next day, but take a moment to rest," She smiled and turned to me, her expression growing serious once again. "You. Your aura used to be purple - meaning you had an intuitive mind, but now... now it's masked by a-a shadowy black, full of hatred and negativity... But deep down, you are still that purple."
"Um, thank you for the insight, but... Can you talk with spirits?" Jack pipped up and she turned back to him, giving him another soft smile. She nodded.
"Yes. Who is the spirit in question you'd like to speak with? I make no promises on connecting with them if they insist on not being spoken to, but I shall try my best, sweet babies," She hummed and Jack bit on his bottom lip.
"Eli... Eli Cooper," Jack answered and she nodded.
"I shall grab our supplies. Sean, keep your soulmate under control - I do not trust his black aura," She informed us, before leaving the room. My eyes widened, as we never told her either of our names and she addressed me as Jack's soulmate.
"S-Soulmate?" I stuttered and turned to see Jack grinning.
"Are you really that surprised?"
"No, no, of course not... It's just... Hearing it is... Just wow," Was all I could manage and leaned in closer to him, my hand to the back of his head, pressing him closer to me, letting out lips touch. We kissed until Madame Azzara's footsteps coming back. We pulled away and sat back in our seats as she set candles on the table and lit them carefully.
"Yes, you sweet babies are soul-mates, I am aware how pleased that must make you," She smirked and sat down in her chair. "Alright, sweet babies, we must hold hands and the most confident person in the room must speak with him - which, judging by the air in the room, is me. Understood?"
"Yes," Both Jack and I said. My left hand squeezed Jack's right a bit, my right hand holding one of Madame Azzara's.
"Eli Cooper... Eli Cooper, are you here? Eli... Eli Cooper..." She repeated in a somewhat hushed tone, until she stiffened. "He is here - he has agreed to communicate through me. What would you like to ask?"
"Are you okay?" Jack immediately asked and Madame Azzara seemed to be listening intently.
"He says he will be," She replied and he just nodded softly.
"Um... Where are you?" I asked and she nodded her head Jack's direction.
"He is standing behind Jack. He appears injured. He is bleeding all over. His tongue is cut in two, there is a wound in his chest, rope marks are around his neck, bruises cover him - the most radiant piece of him is his neck, which appears slashed open down to the bone."
"M-Mark..." Jack's voice teetered as he glanced at me, tears in his eyes. I suppose the cat's out of the bag - as he knows I tortured the guy now.
"I didn't do that much damage to him," I swore, hoping to lie again, but Madame Azzara picked up both of our hands and slammed them down on the table, causing Jack to yelp.
"Liar!" Her voice boomed, before she seemed to get control of herself once again.
"E-Eli... What do you want?" I asked, frowning.
"He wants Jack," She replied, using Sean's nickname, which wasn't given either. It seemed she was genuinely talking with Eli. "He says he will not go away until Jack is dead and with him - where he belongs... But that is wrong, sweet babies. You belong with each other. You are soul-mates."
"M-Mark tortured you?" Jack asked in a small voice. Madame Azzara nodded, causing Jack to turn to me. "Y-You said he didn't s-suffer."
"Sean, sweet baby, you cannot blame Mark for his actions. He does not kill in cold blood. He is overcome with angry spirit - who is out to kill. Mark does get jealous when it comes to you, but he does not wish to hurt anyone. The vengeful spirit inside of him forces him to think the way he does. The medication does nothing. Your cabin is the only thing keeping the spirit from getting Mark to kill."
"I-I'm so confused..." Jack trailed off, beginning to cry.
"Eli says not to cry, but I say let them flow. Tears are good for the soul - keeps you afloat. As for your confusion, you have no need to fear. All will be revealed in time. Also, do not smoke - bad for your lungs, it makes your aura dark."
"Thank you," Jack nodded and sniffled.
"Just one more question... How do we stop you?" I asked and Madame's face seemed to grow sorrowful.
"He says there is no stopping him. His spirit cannot rest until he is brought back together with his lover, but that cannot be. His lover has found his soulmate, Eli must realize that in order to move on, but it is difficult for him when all he sees is Mark's black aura and not the purple underneath."
"I see... How do I get rid of the vengeful spirit?" I asked, unsure exactly how to phrase the question. It was all very strange to me, I never gave the supernatural a second thought until now and apparently there's a spirit inside of me - and not in the fun way.
"It is a mystery for you to solve. I offer my services whenever needed, but that is something for you," She nodded in my direction. "Goodbyes?"
"No," Jack shook his head, which I was thankful for, but his tone was so soft, I could hardly hear him. I was afraid for what was to come - more of his tears out of frustration and the fact that I had lied to him.
"Eli Cooper, back to where you came. Eli... Back," She repeated, as if commanding a dog. Eventually, she dropped our hands, but Jack and I's remained intertwined. "That is all the time we have. I wish you luck - feel free to visit anytime without pay, sweet babies."
"Thank you," Jack and I gloomily murmured in response and stepped out of the tent, hell awaiting me.
