It was midnight - witching hour - and we were all gathered around the Ouija Board in front of the roaring fireplace on the floor. Jack seemed to be the most nervous, Felix was fidgeting a bit, but I felt somewhat at peace. It was odd, but I felt calm. Chica was laying behind Jack, touching his back. The little action seemed to keep him from freaking out and getting scared, which I was thankful for.
"Okay, so I think the most confident person speaks... Right?" I asked, unsure as I hadn't really used a spirit board before. Both Felix and Jack nodded and I sighed.
"So, you?" Jack pipped up, glancing at me, while Felix nodded. I bit my bottom lip and we all put a finger on the planchette, which was resting over the letter 'G'. "We have to move it in a couple circles to warm it up."
"You sound like you've used one before," Felix thought aloud and Jack laughed dryly.
"Yeah... That's why I'm so nervous," He admitted and we slowly started to push the planchette around in even circles until we let it rest over the same letter as before. "Okay, now you have to ask questions - start simple."
"Are there any spirits here?" I asked and immediately, the piece began to move towards 'yes'. "Okay... How many are in this room?"
"It's going towards two," Felix whispered as we lightly kept our fingers on the piece, letting it glide towards the numbers on the board. We had no need to ask each other if we were moving the piece, as we weren't doing this just to see, we had a purpose and knew there was already at least one spirit active in the room - Eli.
"Who is with us?" I asked confidently and watched as the planchette moved towards the letters, spelling out one of the two names. "E-L-I."
"Hi, Eli," Jack's voice cracked as he spoke and the planchette continued moving.
"D-A-R-K," A shiver ran down my spine as I read the letters out loud and I felt the ping in my stomach begin to set off. "G-Guys, I don't think I can talk anymore. Th-The ping is acting up."
"Shit, um, Jack, you've done this before. Why don't you go?" Felix asked and he nodded.
"E-Eli, what can we do to get you to leave us alone?" Jack asked and the letters began moving, Jack was silently following along and keeping track of what was being spelt, as I tried not to let the ping bring me too much pain and cause me to let go of the planchette. "Die. He said die."
"Fuck you, Eli," I muttered, the ping becoming unbearably strong as I bent over and started gasping. "Ask about the ping or something - how to stop it."
"How can Mark get rid of... Dark?" He asked and the planchette started moving quickly, making it difficult to keep up. I took my eyes off the board until I felt our hands stop moving. "They said to... release him."
"How?" I asked and it moved again. I kept up and frowned after it spelt out, "Let go of the planchette? What? How is that going to release him?"
"I don't like this," Felix frowned and a shot of pain from the ping bolted through me. "Don't let go of the planchette."
"I'm not gonna," I said, then another burst of pain followed and I couldn't help crying out. It was as if the spirit in me was listening and didn't like the fact that I wasn't going to listen. "Fuck... This is getting unbearable."
"Are you okay, Marky?" Jack asked in a small voice and another, more forceful, burst of pain went through me. It felt like I was being stabbed in the stomach over and over again. I couldn't help myself from letting go of the planchette and doubling over in pain. I glanced up to see Jack letting go too and coming towards me. "Mark!"
"G-Guys..." Felix stuttered as the fire began growing more intense and aggressive. I groaned in pain, until I heard a thud and it seized. I gasped at the sudden relief as I felt Jack's hand on my back. I grabbed his arm without the cast on it to try and comfort him.
"I'm okay, I'm okay," I repeated and glanced over to see Felix was laying on his back, shaking as though he was having a seizure. Jack noticed immediately after and let go of me.
"Felix!" He cried out and went to his side, unsure what to do. The shaking stopped and Jack hoisted him up, letting him sit up right, until Felix grabbed his arm and smiled viciously. "F-Felix?"
"Hi, Jack," He licked his lips and I slowly edged towards the two, gently taking Jack's hand as Felix's eyes darted towards me. They were a deep blue, almost navy. "Mark, Mark, Mark... Do you have any idea how irritating it is to be stuck in your body?"
"W-What?" I stuttered and quickly yanked Jack away from him out of fear, letting him cower into my arms.
"Oh, quit babying him," Felix rolled his eyes and stood up, towering over us, as we were both still sitting on the floor. He bent and grabbed the back of Jack's shirt and tugged him up roughly, causing Jack to shriek in shock. I stood up and tried grabbing him back, but could only reach his broken arm and didn't want to hurt him.
"What is going on? Felix, what's wrong with you?" Jack cried and tried pulling away from him, but couldn't.
"I see why Eli's so interested in you, Sean. So easy, vulnerable," Felix purred and Jack started trembling. I grabbed his upper arm and pulled him back to me, enveloping him into a tight hug, as Felix laughed. "So fucking pathetic."
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I snapped and stepped back a bit, not wanting to get too close to Felix anymore.
"Well, what was wrong with you?" Felix asked and I was at a loss of words.
"Was? What?" I asked and he rolled his eyes in frustration.
"Do I need to spell it out for you?"
"Please, do," I pushed and he and chuckled and stepped closer to us.
"I'm Dark."
