Be You're Own Hero (Ahren Stringer Fanfic)

*Emily's P.O.V* (Chapter 15)

             He is everything. He makes me feel loved and he's my whole world. I looked over at him, watching his different expressions of concentration as he drove.
             I reached over and laced my fingers with his. He looked over at me and smiled, "Are you happy?" He asked earnestly.
            "I'm so happy bear. But I want you to know that you don't have to buy me stuff to make me happy." I stated honestly.
            He reached our hands up and gently kissed the top of mine. I smiled at him and we drove home, having cute small talk.

            When we reached the house he backed the car up into the garage so it would be easier to carry the stuff up, as it was pretty heavy.
           "Okay," he said, "I'm going to carry the tank with all of the stuff in it straight up to our room and you can carry the baby up."
           I laughed at him and before I could protest, he was walking up the stairs. I quickly followed up and watched as he struggled to put the tank down on the table. I quickly put the fish down and helped him.
           When we finally got everything sorted and separated we sat on the edge of my bed, our bed, and caught our breath. "What are we gonna do about the water babe?" He asked. "I don't think I can carry it three flights up." He stated.
             I laughed at him and explained, "I'll go downstairs and get us a bowl, and we can go in my bathroom and fill it up and pour it in after we have the decor and stuff in there."
            "Doesn't the water have to be treated or something?" He asked.
            "Yeah. I got the conditioner in the bag beside the pebbles. When we're done with everything we will put it in and wait for about 20 minutes." I explained. I ran downstairs and grabbed two big bowls and brought them back up. I sat them on the floor and looked at him. He was sitting on my bed still, looking at the fish.
            I started washing all of the decor and pebbles in the bathroom. After I would finish washing them Ahren would grab them and put them in the tank, spreading them out. After we finished with the rocks, we started on the plants. I showed him how to properly put them in and he placed them around in different places. Finally, we put the castle in. It looked so beautiful, so natural. We finished putting the water in and I dropped a conditioner tablet in. I ran back downstairs quickly and grabbed a small bag. I poured her and her water in the bag and gently placed it in the tank so she could get used to the temperature.
             I grabbed Ahrens hand and pulled him back towards me so we could look at what we did.
            "It's beautiful." I stated.
            "You're beautiful" he replied.
            I looked down and blushed then hugged him. He wrapped his hands around my waist and we kissed passionately for a while.
           "Get a room." Joel stated.
            I jumped away from Ahren, as Joel had scared me, and looked at him.
           "We're in our room. Learn how to knock." Ahren replied teasingly. I loved how close they were.
            "Woah that tank is beautiful. I want one." He pouted.
           "Awww come here baby. I'll get you a tank okay? It'll have a pretty fishy in it and you'll forget about it in two weeks." Ahren said in a baby voice and laughed.
           Joel replied in the deepest voice he could manage, "Okay... daddy."
           My face turned bright red as they laughed together. Ahren looked at me and laughed harder and hugged me.
            "You guys are weird." I stated. "I always thought you two were gay together. I ship it." They looked at me shocked. "What? You think I can't mess with y'all too. I have a big voice ya know." I teased.
            "I know. I heard it last night. You really know Ahrens name." Joel teased back and winked.
I got embarrassed and hit Ahrens side before saying,
  "You told me they couldn't hear."
              They both laughed and Joel walked out, muttering silly things. I looked up at Ahren and hugged his side.
              "We're a family." Ahren stated. "Everyone loves you. I'm glad you're here."
              I hugged him tightly and kissed his ribs through his shirt.

                 *sorry for the short chapter. I actually have a betta named sharkbait and she died :( she put up a good fight and I'm proud of her. This is just a filler, don't worry. It'll get deeper into Ahrens and Emily's life together. *
