Chapter 6
After the signing Iris and Eva left and drove to their "hideout". They would climb up the ladder behind the bank that closed down last year, they always ignored the DO NOT CLIMB sign because the ladder lead up to the roof of the building. They sat on the roof and looked out onto the city.
"Ashley totally thought you were hot." Iris said nudging Eva with her elbow.
Eva smirked. "He looks like he's 30. And I doubt that, maybe he just thought I was another pretty fan."
Iris buried her face in her hands and shook her head. "God damn Eva. You need to realize that guys actually like you. Don't be so shy Eva bear." She told her.
"I don't know how you do it, Iris." Eva said, laying back on the cold cement.
"You learn by doing. Be bold, be fearless, be confident when you talk to guys. Maybe it was fate having a badass like Ashley think you're hot." Iris went on.
"Well I won't see him ever again, in real life. So fate doesn't really--" Eva was cut off by another voice.
"Hey! This is private property you're not supposed to be here." The girls looked back and saw a flashlight shine in their eyes. Eva shielded her eyes with her hand.
"I'm not going back to juvenile detention..." Iris quickly whispered as she grabbed Eva's arm and scrambled to her feet.
Eva looked closely, it was a police officer. The girls backed up slowly, but they were already to the edge of the roof. There was a black metal ledge on the side of the bank.
Iris jumped off the building, and it wasn't like 30 feet off the ground. Eva looked over the edge and saw Iris on the black ledge.
Eva looked back at the police officer, he was running towards her.
"Eva come on!" Iris called up to her, Eva jumped off the edge and landed sloppy on the metal. Iris ran down the metal steps connected to the ledge, Eva followed.
They hit the ground running through a dark alley. The ground was wet and Eva tried not to slip while she trailed behind Iris. There was a siren from a police car and Eva screamed.
"Eva! We're going to run as far and fast as we can, I'm going to try to lose him, okay?" Iris told her. Eva nodded and sprinted with Iris. Iris' black boots hit the wet pavement quickly. Eva couldn't believe what was happening, in her head she blamed Iris for this. If she wouldn't have gone to that concert with Iris she wouldn't be running from a police officer, he probably called more units to help him.
Eva got a cramp in her side from the running. Iris lead her into a nearby bar. They tried to run if fast past the bouncer but he caught Iris. Eva continued to run inside, she was mindlessly running until she rammed right into a person. On impact the person broke their glass on the floor. As Eva tried to scramble up on her feet she cut her hand on broken glass. The other person helped her up.
"Eva?" The person asked, it was a man.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't--" Eva's voice trailed off. "Ashley?" She asked.
"What a small world. Why is a fifteen year old in a bar?" He asked brushing off his shirt.
"I'm sixteen--and I was just, erm, passing through." Eva said.
"Alone?"
"No, I was with--" Eva realized why she was running. She gasped. "Iris!"
