Eva was writing a poem for her teacher at recess in second grade. She sat alone at a blue table underneath a shady tree. The table was cool but her thin blonde hair was warm from the rays of the hot Georgia sun.

"Hey, Eva. Why don't you go play with the other kids?" Her teacher asked her. She looked up and at the wide playground with all the screaming kids. She shook her head.

"No," she bluntly answered. She continued to work on her poem.

"What are you writing?" Her teacher asked her. Eva looked up at her and smiled.

"A poem for you," Eva said proudly. Her teacher smiled warmly. She stroked her hair.

"You're special, Eva. Always remember," she said, "can I see the poem?"

"No, not yet. It's not done yet," Eva told her. Her teacher smiled and walked off to go supervise the other kids. A few minutes later an annoying boy that always picked on Eva by the name of Rylan came to her table.

"What are you doing?" he asked. Eva didn't look up.

"Leave me alone," she told him. But Rylan persisted. One of Rylan's friends, Alexander, came over to help taunt his idiot friend.

"Eva is writing like a poem," Rylan told Alexander. Eva got up to leave but the boys formed a blockade with their tiny bodies. A lot of boys and girls were mean to Eva, she didn't like to get dirty, she liked books, she had the highest grades in the class, she knew all the answers to the questions the teachers would ask, she was just different.

"Move," Eva demanded. Alexander reached for her poem but Eva jerked it away.

"You can't touch my poem," she barked at him.

"Why? Is it a letter to your boyfriend?" Rylan teased her.

"Ew! Eva has a boyfriend!" Alexander exclaimed. Eva looked at the ground and cried as they made snickering remarks about her "boyfriend".

"Hey!" a voice shouted from behind the two boys. All three turned to look.

"You leave her alone!" the voice demanded. Eva saw it was a girl. She had her black hair back in a French braid.

"We're not afraid of you," Alexander told her.

"Yeah, we're not afraid," Rylan agreed.

"You should be!" the girl exclaimed. Eva watched with eager eyes behind her pink rimmed glasses.

"You're just a girl," Rylan sneered at her. The girl tackled Rylan to the ground and bit him. Rylan cried out. Alexander tried pulling the girl's long braid but she pushed him on the ground right next to Rylan. And with one swift punch she hit Alexander right in the nose then did the same to Rylan. The two boys who thought they were all macho started crying and wailing.

"You just got beat up by a girl!" another boy watching said. The girl held up her small second grade fists.

"You want one too?" she asked. The boy ran off fast. Rylan and Alexander ran off also to go tell on the girl who gave them boo boos on their faces. While they were tattle-telling the girl decided to introduce herself.

"Hi, I'm Iris Paige Leonard," she told Eva. Iris extended her hand to shake Eva's.

"I'm um Eva Mary Hyde," Eva replied shyly, shaking her hand.

"I saw those stinky boys try to take your poem," Iris said. Eva looked down at her survived poem.

"Thank you for hitting them..." Eva said.

"No problemo!" Iris said cheerfully, "Hey, you wanna come to my secret place?" Iris asked Eva. She nodded slightly.

"Sure," Eva said in her quiet soft voice. Iris grabbed Eva's hand as she ran with Eva to her secret place. They got stopped by Alexander.

"Ew! Eva and Iris are holding hands! They like each other!" he loudly announced. There was a chorus of 'ewwwwww's from other students. Eva's teacher appeared in front of them.

"Eva, Iris, you are both in big trouble. I can't believe you hit two of your classmates." her teacher said.

"Wow, Iris was pretty bad ass," Ashley said. She felt his warm breath on her cheek.

"She still is-- she helped me that day. Helped me become more confident, and the other kids didn't pick on me anymore, I actually made some friends out of that-- and I didn't even throw any punches! But the greatest things I gained that day were; confidence, giving my teacher my poem, and Iris." Eva told Ashley.

"This slide was the secret place?" He asked. Eva nodded. There was a moment of silence and Eva could feel Ashley's eyes on her. She turned and looked at him.

"What?" she giggled.

"Nothing... it's just that we're here, alone and I..." Ashley's voice trailed off.

Their faces got closer

And closer

And closer. Ashley grabbed Eva's face and kissed her. Again.

He's kissing me. Oh my frickin god Ashley the quote on quote "sex god" is kissing me for the THIRD time tonight. Oh his lips are so soft. I wonder if there's going to be a fourth time, or a fifth, or a sixth....
