Oh."Aww, Ashley the softie," Eva teased. He nonchalantly said "Pssshhh."
"Don't be modest," she said.
"I'm not a softie," he said harshly. Eva was taken aback. Oh, I forgot.
Eva remembered. He's not a softie, he's a hustler. "A bad boy sex god" in Iris' words. He's not some kind of "family man". Would he ever even want a family? He definitely doesn't fit the dream that her parents conjured up for her. That she was gonna go to college and have a nice husband who plays golf and have three kids and a lap dog, drive a minivan and live in a white picket fence suburban neighborhood. That's how she thought it'd be. That's how it was supposed to be, right? Eva realized it's not going to be that easy. Ashley's not gonna be some lawyer and great father. He's a rock star. If her parents knew she was even talking to him they would make him disappear into thin air.
"Do you want kids?" Eva bluntly asked. He raised an eyebrow.
"Like, my own? Well, it'd definitely be nice but I wouldn't get to see them that often, y'know? I'm always busy in the studio or prepping for a knew tour, or going to meet and greets, or doing interviews. I can't parent if I'm 3,000 miles away. I know Andy wants to settle down one day but music is my passion. I don't know if I see kids in my future," he explained. His expression a bit pained.
Ashley dropped Eva off in front of her house a few hours later.
"I'm leaving tonight," he said right before she were about to open the car door. She turned to look at him.
"When will you be back?" She asked.
"Maybe in 4 or 5 weeks I'll be done with the tour, then I'm going to settle down at my place in Hollywood for a bit. I need to rest after the tour."
Eva nodded slowly.
"Well, I had a lot of fun these past two days," she uttered. If only I had the words to say. Ashley noticed her distress, he touched her cheek. She looked down at your hands.
"Hey," he said. She looked up at him.
"See you in a couple months," he said. Eva looked briefly out the window. I'm going to do it. I'm going to. With a leap of faith she leaned in close to Ash's face to kiss him. He gently grabbed her arm and pulled her away. Eva's ears grew hot.
"No," he breathed.
"But I thought-" she started.
"No, we're not going to kiss and then separate for months."
Eva swallowed hard. She touched his cheek.
"See you in a few months," she quickly said and scooted out of his car. She ran up her long driveway, when she reached her front doors she turned around hoping to get one last glance at him, but he was already gone."Ugh, I'm totally clueless," Tessa sighed. Eva rolled on her stomach to face her.
"I can't believe he just didn't let you kiss him, I mean he likes you what's the problem?" Tessa questioned. Iris chimed in; "Maybe he knows he'll miss her too much."
"Maybe," Eva said.
"Awwww he's gonna miss you," Tessa cooed. Eva threw a pillow at her.
"I didn't know Ashley had actual feelings," Iris muttered, "looks like you're really changing him."
"But I don't want to change him." Eva argued.
"I mean for like the better, you feel?"
"I feel." She answered, then groaned really loudly, "I can't see him for a few months, what the fuck am I supposed to do for the months I can't see him?"
"Go back to school, we've ditched four days in a row," Tessa said as she skimmed through a Kerrang magazine on Eva's desk.
"Fuck that," Iris laughed, "if we go tomorrow it'll be Friday, it's the last day before spring break, there's no use."
"True," Eva agreed. She put her black framed glasses on, she hasn't worn them in two days. Iris popped her gum, even her gum was black.
"Tessa, I talked to Robbie and he said he can hook us up," Iris told Tessa with a wink. Tessa slyly smiled. They both looked at Eva.
"Oh no. No. No. No. Whatever crazy thing you guys are planning on doing please leave me out of it," Eva pleaded. Iris put her black platform boot down.
"Come on Evangeline!" Tessa began to explain, "Okay so Robbie, you know from 7th period? Well he-" Eva cut her off.
Eva shook her head, "I know what he does, he sells fake ID's. Wherever you guys are planning on going I'm not interested."
"We want to go to..." Iris looked at Tessa, She mouthed something to her.
"To where?" Eva questioned. What the hell are they planning?
"We want to go to club ACID," they said in unison.
"Are you crazy?" She asks.
"A little bit." Tessa answered, "Come on. Ashley's gone to tour don't you wanna have fun?"
"I do." Eva answered.
Eva sent Tessa and Iris home so she can think about their stupid plan to go to club ACID, plus her parents are dragging her to the country club for lunch.
Once they arrived at the country club they headed to the golf course where they planned to eat lunch. They sat on the cool grass and her dad started pulling things out of his picnic basket. Eva was busy checking out Ashley's bio on Wikipedia that she didn't notice another family joined them on the picnic blanket. Her mom put her hand on her shoulder.
"And this is my daughter Evangeline," her mother introduced her. Eva looked up, she didn't recognize the family. They were the standard country-club-white-collar parents. They had a son.
"This is my son, Nicholas," the woman introduced her son. He was wearing a golfers uniform. Hello gorgeous. Eva had to admit, despite the pretty face, he radiated the douche bag vibe.
"My daughter is turning seventeen in two months, how old is Nicholas?" Eva's mom asked.
"I'm eighteen," Nicholas answered for himself. Nicholas winked at Eva, she looked away.
"Nicholas, why don't you take Evangeline for a walk?" his mother encouraged. Why do parents do this?
Nicholas looked down at his hands, at his parents, then at Eva. "Evangeline would you like to join me for a walk?" he asked politely. He stood up and stretched out his hand to her. Eva nodded and took his hand.
