Chapter 8

Eva looked down at her hands. Her ears felt hot, she could feel Ashley looking at her. Eva is usually shy, but she's extremely sheepish with Ashley, what with him being about ten years older than her.

"Did I cross the line or something? I'm sorry." Ashley said to her.

Eva shook her head. "No no, it's not like that. I'm just, real shy..." Eva said, still looking down at her hands.

"But Eva, that's the best kind." Ashley said. Eva looked up at him and smiled.

But Ashley doesn't really know me, I'm wearing Iris' clothes, I don't have my glasses on, I don't wear this eyeliner, I don't wear my hair like this. I look like Iris' clone. He wouldn't like the real me. Eva thought to herself. She got mad at herself for thinking these things, she always psyched herself out of being confident because she would always think what if.

What if he doesn't like the real me? The nerdy me. Eva thought again. She pushed the thoughts away and looked at Ashley.

"Do you want me to buy you a drink?" Ashley asked her.

"But, I'm sixteen." Eva said, maybe if she had a drink she would be more bold and confident.

"Yeahbut, nobody here knows that." Ashley said with an evil grin. Eva laughed, she tried to make her laugh sound a bit seductive. But that was hard.

"Oh Mr.Purdy. I see you don't follow the rules. But, my mother always told me not to accept drinks from men." Eva said matter-of-factly. She started being a little more out there.

"Come on," Ashley said sliding out of the booth. Ashley extended his hand out to her, Eva grabbed it and he helped her out. His hand was strong but his skin was soft and warm. Eva looked back at Iris talking with CC, Iris winked at Eva then returned to her conversation.

Eva didn't pay much attention to the drink Ashley bought her. They sat at the bar and Ashley watched her intently as she sipped what was really her first alcoholic drink. Iris on the other hand isn't a virgin, has gotten drunk before, and has almost got arrested. When Eva tasted it it was strong, really strong. It made her head feel odd. She smiled at Ashley big.

"What is it?" Eva asked. Even if he told her what it was she really wouldn't even know what he was talking about.

"It's just some moscato. I didn't want to get you anything that's too you know." Ashley explained. Eva nodded.

"So is Eva your real name?" Ashley asked. Eva looked at him.

"Yes. Is Ashley your real name?" She teased.

"Yes it is..." Ashley said, he grabbed a pen from one of the bar tenders and started scribbling something on a napkin "...but. You can call me anytime."

Eva almost choked on her drink. She laughed.

"Oh my god that pickup line..." Eva giggled. Ashley smiled.

"I know, I know. I'm funny." Ashley joked. Eva grabbed the napkin and put it in her back pocket and took another sip of her drink.

"So, you don't have a curfew?" Ashley asked. Eva almost choked on her drink again.

"What time is it?" Eva asked pulling out her phone and trying to turn it on. "Shit it died!" She exclaimed.

"I'll check." Ashley said looking at his phone.

"It's 10:36." He said.

"I'm supposed to he home by 11:00-- no wait! I can tell my mom that I'm staying at Iris' for the night." Eva thought out loud.

"Tell her, because I want more time to get to know you." Ashley seductively told her.

"What? Knowing me for three hours hasn't been enough?" Eva teased. Ashley chuckled.

"Are we going to stay here all night? Don't you have to travel to a new city or something?" She asked.

"No, I have two days before we have to load onto the bus." He answered. She looked down.

"So we'll only know each other for two days?" Eva asked. She tried to hide her disappointment.

"Well, we're in the south. The south is usually our last few shows of a tour. Next is Louisiana, then Texas, then Arizona. But me, I will definitely come back to Georgia." He told her. A smiled creeped onto Eva's face.
