Chapter 12

Eva woke up next to a sleeping Iris in the morning. She got up and brushed her hair. Eva thought she totally dreamed the entire thing last night. She grabbed her jeans off the floor to change into them and out of Iris' black pajama pants. There was something in the back pocket. It was a napkin with a phone number on it, not just anybody's number, Ashley Purdy's number. All of the events last night came fluttering back to her like a damn butterfly convention. She shook her head. Eva was mad at herself, why did she let her guard down last night? This is just going to turn out a waste of time like all her other two relationships. Eva threw a pillow at Iris. She groaned.

"Wake uuuuuuppppppp..." Eva told Iris. Iris groaned again.

"Iris stop being lazy lets make pancakes," she told her. Iris got up and put her hair in a bun.

Downstairs in the kitchen Eva and Iris stirred pancake mix. Iris kept eyeing Eva, it didn't take long for her to notice.

"What?" Eva asked.

Iris yelled, "EVA AND ASHLEY SITTING IN A TREE. K-I-S-S-I...."
Eva rolled her eyes.

"First of all, we were in a slide!" Eva said, "And I don't even think I'll see him again..." she continued.

"What? No no no no no! You have to see him again! You have to!" Iris declared.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because he's Ashley Purdy?!" Iris exclaimed like are you seriously going to pass up a chance with the most beautiful sex god in the history of history?

"Well, he did give me his phone number--" Eva said. Iris screamed and squealed.

"HE GAVE YOU HIS NUMBER OH MY FUCK!" She yelled. Her voice echoed through her big house. Eva buried her face in her palms and laughed.

"Yes! He did!" Eva said cheerfully. The two girls began jumping up and down in glee. They settled down and sat at the breakfast bar drinking orange juice when Iris' mom came downstairs.

"Hey girls!" Her mom said with her usual cheerful smile and warm voice.

"Good morning mama," Iris said.

"What's up Mrs.Leonard?" Eva chimed in. Mrs.Leonard smiled.

"Eva, for the last time, call me Brandi!" Her mom insisted again. Eva smiled.

"I will... Brandi." She said.

"Mom guess what?! At the BVB concert last night one of the freaking band members had a crush on Eva!" Iris exclaimed. Brandi's eyes widened.

"Wow, Eva! How old is he?" She asked leaning on the counter, actually wanting to hear about it. Brandi's like a teenager. She looks like one too.

"Like 29 or 30," Eva told her.

"Doesn't he know that's illegal?" Brandi asked.

"Love knows no age, mom," Iris said. Eva almost choked on her orange juice. She coughed.

"Oh... Um... Excuse me..." Eva said still coughing, "Love? Love is a... a very strong word I, um, don't love him."

"You have to!" Iris exclaimed.

Love? Did Iris just use the L-word? I don't love Ashley... but Ashley's so perfect. I love his smile and his voice and he's so just ugh. I can't even. But love him? I can't fall in love, I just can't. But Ashley... oh, he could change my mind.
