chapter 14
Eva called Iris right away. Iris answered immediately.
"Hey, what's up?" Iris' dainty voice answered.
"Oh my god, me and Ashley might see eachother today," she gushed to Iris.
"Seriously? Where are you gonna see him at?" Iris asked.
"I, I don't know," Eva said, "but the point is that he said that he wants to see me!" Eva said enthusiastically.
"Oh my god I know you've known eachother for like 24 hours but I think y'all will get married," Iris teased.
"Oh Iris, don't blow this out of proportions!" Eva said.
"Ima come over so I can see what you're wearing, oh, and Tessa's flight lands today!" Iris exclaimed. Eva squealed.
"I can't wait! I get to see Ashley and Tessa!" Eva cheered.
"See you in like ten minutes," Iris said. Eva hung up and smiled.
Eva brushed her hair while listening to some BVB tracks in her room. She was taking the tangles out of her hair from when Iris teased it for the concert. She put it back in a ponytail and put her black framed glasses back on her pale face. She smiled at herself in the mirror. "Glad I look like myself again..." she said to herself. Her phone buzzed. She sprinted to her desk to retrieve it. On the lock screen was a text from Ashley. She quickly read it;
Ashley: meet me at the Starbucks by the acid club?
Eva: that sounds like fun c: what time?
Ashley: in about an hour, so 12:00 sound good?
Eva checked the time; 10:57 am.
Eva: okay c:
Ashley: see you there (: xx
Eva smiled hugely. She turned up the volume on one of the Black Veil Brides songs she was listening to. Eva tried to style her hair, but it just wasn't working. She barely does anything with it. She sighed obnoxiously. "Fuck it," she said as she laid on her bed and waited for Iris.
I definitely won't be able to tell my parents about Ashley, ever. Even though they also have a huge age difference, they just won't believe it's me. I don't want them to see me as anything else like they already do; a quiet, sweet girl who listens to The Lumineers and the Arctic Monkeys. Who likes to read and do homework. I want to keep my reputation with my parents clean. Then again, I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm just seeing him. We're not dating. I'm not going to fall in love with him, what could go wrong? Eva let out a sigh of relief. She's not doing anything wrong, right? While she was playing with her mother's red lipstick, the doorbell rang. Eva ran down the huge staircase and answered it. It was Iris.
"Yay," Eva said.
"Come on, let's pick up Tessa from the airport." Iris said.
"Yes! I can't wait to see her," Eva said as she walked out of her house, closing the door behind her. As Eva and Iris walked down the long driveway Iris complimented Eva on her red lipstick.
"You look really good in red lipstick, Eva. You should wear it more often." She told Eva. Eva sarcastically laughed as they climbed into Iris' car.
"I wouldn't be able to wear this in, like, public." She told Iris.
"But we're going to an airport, that's public," Iris said, pulling out of the driveway.
"It's different, y'know? We're not going to see anybody from our school. Except for Tessa." Eva said to her.
Iris put her hands up in submission. "Anyway, I can't believe Tessa has been gone for so long." she said to Eva.
"I know right? I'm glad she's coming back." Eva said. Tessa is Eva and Iris' other best friend. She left to California about seven months ago because her mother sent her to her dad's because she found cigarettes in her backpack. Tessa came into the picture in 6th grade when they all met during gym class. Tessa is gorgeous. She's the shortest of their group but she's still adorable. Tessa is the one that gets all the guys. She has long black hair and clear skin. Eva, Iris and Tessa are all pretty opposite on the outside but when it comes to personality they are the same. People at school refer to them as the G's. The Good Girl, The Goth, and The Goddess.
After a long drive consisting of blasting BVB and throwing Cheetos at eachother, they arrived at the airport. While they were waiting for Tessa's plane to arrive Ashley called Eva.
"Hey, I'll be right back," Eva said to Iris.
"Who's calling you?" she asked.
"Ashley," she answered. Iris winked and nodded. Eva playfully rolled her eyes and walked away to take the call.
"Hello?" she answered. She was nervous, her voice broke in the middle.
"Hey, Eva," his deep voice on the other line greeted. Eva's heart started beating faster.
"So, you didn't meet me at Starbucks." Ashley said. Eva's stomach dropped. She checked the time on her watch. 1:34. Fuck! Ugh I totally forgot! Why does the airport have to take such a long drive? Dammit.
"Ashley I'm sorry, I h-had to go pick up my friend f-from the airport. I, uh, forgot..." Eva babbled. Her ears felt hot.
"It's fine, Eves," Ashley said reassuringly. Oh my god. Ashley gave me a nickname.
"Oh, okay..." she said.
"Anyway, I wanted to know, can I pick you up today? Only if you want, I just want to see you," Ashley told her. Eva smiled.
"Yes, I'd love for you to pick me up." Eva said, trying to sound cutesy. It wasn't really working, she ended up sounding like she was cooing a baby.
"Okay, text me your address?" he asked.
"Yes, I will,"
"See you later," he said.
"See you," Eva said and hung up. Iris ran over and grabbed Eva's arm.
"Come on! Tessa's plane is landing on the runway." Iris said. Eva shoved her phone into her pocket and went with Eva to go meet Tessa. The airport was packed. Everybody was buzzing around trying to find their parents, or trying to find their luggage. Eva and Iris waited in the waiting area for Tessa to walk in. Both of the girls were very eager to see Tessa again. After a few moments, Tessa and her long black hair, and new California tan, walked in.
