Stiles' POV

"What in the hell were you two thinking?" Dad asks us. Scott and I turn to face him.

"We were just trying to help." Scott says.

"Why don't you try helping me to understand what the hell happened here?" Dad says.

"Well, we were trying to gently persuade him to pull over." I say. Dad raises an eyebrow at me.

"He was getting away?" Scott tries.

"He got away." Dad says.

"Well, obviously because he's a criminal mastermind, Dad!" I exclaim, following him behind the van. Dad opens the back of the van.

"You wanna guess what the stolen merchanise is?" Dad asks, turning to us with his arms crossed.

"Poison gas?" I ask.

"No." Dad says.

"Filled with drugs?" I ask. Dad shakes his head.

"Helium." Dad says.

"Helium." I repeat. Dad nods.

"Now, just get home. The both of you." Dad says, shooing us away. Scott and I sigh, and leave.

"You know, this could be a good thing." Scott says on the way home.

"That we saved helium?" I ask, skeptical.

"They don't need us anymore." Scott says. I shake my head, unwilling to accept that.

"They need us." I argue. "They just don't know it yet."

"We're going off to college soon. They'll have to learn to survive without us." Scott says. I scoff.

"Beacon Hills will burn to the ground without us." I say.

"Stiles. They don't need us." Scott says. I sigh. My phone suddenly starts ringing, and I pull it out, revealing Dad on the screen.

"They need us." I say, showing the screen to Scott.

Luka's POV

I laugh as Camille climbs on top of me, and her hair falls on my chest.

"Not that I'm complaining about finally being alone, but where's Stiles tonight?" She asks, resting her head on my chest.

"Out trying to prove to Scott that Beacon Hills still needs them." I say, rolling my eyes. "Dad said they caught someone trying to steal helium."

"What do you think?" She asks. I raise an eyebrow at her questioningly. "I mean, what do you think's really bugging him?"

"Honestly? I just think he's not ready to leave home, and he's trying to find a reason to stay." I say. "He's grasping at things that aren't there, because he doesn't want to leave this all behind. He's putting off the inevitable because... well... of the things I just said."

"He doesn't want to go off to college." She says. I shake my head.

"No." I say.

"Did he tell you he doesn't, or...?" She questions, tilting her head. I smile and shake my head.

"I'm just that good at reading him." I say.

"Did you try talking to him?" She questions.

"I did. Several times." I say, nodding.

"Hmm." Camille says. I sigh.

"He'll get over it, I'm sure." I say, rubbing her back. She nods.
