Luka's POV

I walk up to Liam's room with Scott, hoping to help Scott convince Liam to go to school

"Liam." Scott says, trying to pull the covers off of him.

"No, I'm sick. I'm sick." Liam says from underneath the covers. I roll my eyes.

"Liam, you're not sick." I say. "C'mon, man, you gotta go to school."

"No, I'm like deathly ill. It's serious." Liam says, still not coming out from underneath the covers. "I think it's the flu."

"It's not flu season." Scott says.

"Uh, then I probably have pneumonia." Liam says.

"You're a werewolf. Werewolves don't get pneumonia." I say.

"What Luka said. But what you can get is in trouble for being late to school. So come on. Let's go." Scott says.

"I don't think I should go to school. Or outside. Or anywhere. Ever again." Liam says, finally coming out from under the covers, only to cover himself up again.

"Liam, you're going to have to face them sooner or later. Sooner is better." I say.

"You gotta go, Liam. All you gotta do is pretend like nothing happened." Scott says. Liam sits up again.

"Pretend? I'm just supposed to pretend?" Liam asks.

"Think of it like when Superman gets caught with his glasses off. He doesn't give up, does he? He puts them back on and says, 'I'm still Clark Kent.'" Scott says, and I look at him weirdly, to which he just shrugs.

"You want me to wear glasses?" Liam asks, confused. Scott sighs and picks up the comforter, dragging the comforter, and Liam, to the floor at the end of the bed.

"No, I want you to go to school. And be Liam Dunbar, just like how Superman has to be Clark Kent, like Spiderman, and Captain America." Scott says.

"Uh, Captain America is just Steve Rogers..." I say, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Yeah. He doesn't have to pretend. Everyone already loves him. Unlike us, who everyone hates. They hate us for trying to save their lives." Liam says. Scott and I exchange a look.

"You're right. We are trying to save lives. Which is why you've gotta get up, and go to school, and pretend like nothing happened. Because if you don't, more people could die." Scott says.

"Because of me." Liam says.

'I didn't really know Brett or Lori. At least, not like you did. But I know you. And if you're afraid of seeing more of your friends die, you'll go." Scott says.

Liam's POV

I nervously walk through the school doors, looking around at everyone, who, miraculously, are ignoring me so far.

"Not bad so far." Mason says, walking up to me. "This might be easier than we thought."

"Maybe." I say, turning to look at everyone. I hear people whispering about me... saying things like, 'he's one of them', or 'what are they thinking, letting him come to school?', or 'what's he doing here?'

"Just block it out." Mason says.

"They know." I say.

"Just rumors." Mason says. "They don't know anything."

"They know everything." Corey says, coming up to us. "Two sophomores on the lacrosse team were there last night."

"Yeah, but it was late, it was pitch black, and there was fog on the road." Mason says.
