Luka's POV
We all stand around the table as Scott puts the phone on the table, putting on speaker, listening as the woman on the phone talks.
"Hey. It's me again. I, uh, don't know why you can't seem to call me back. Maybe it's because you think you're punishing me. But this is too long. It-it's too much. And it's not about us. Something's happening in Beacon Hills, to the people here. I just... *sigh* I just need to know that everyone's okay. So, please, just call me, please? That's all I'm asking for, just one call. And if you can't call me back, then I'm going to get my answer anyway. That means I'm coming up there myself. If I don't get a call from you, I'm coming up there. So just try... *sigh* try to remember that I'm pack, too."
"You pulled this off one of the bodies in the woods?" Theo asks.
"Malia did." Liam answers.
"Yeah, there were six dead bodies, and one of them had no face." Scott says.
"Okay, so the one with no face, you think that's the woman on the phone?" Theo asks.
"Maybe." Scott says.
"Isn't this the same thing that happened to this Aaron kid?" I ask.
"Yeah, it took over his body, basically stole his face and DNA." Mason says. "So that means that whoever this woman is, she could be the other half of the Anuk-ite."
"Which means she's only half of the problem." Theo says. "The other half we know about. Aaron."
"We don't know where he is, though." Liam says.
"Well, wait, shouldn't we be keeping these two apart?" I ask. "I mean, what'll happen if they find each other?"
"We don't know." Scott says.
"Well, we know about one half, let's just go for that one, that's Aaron." Theo says.
"I'm not agreeing with Theo, but I do think it'll be easier to track down Aaron over a voice on a phone." Mason says.
"That's agreeing with Theo." Liam says.
"Yeah. I was just trying to soften the blow a bit." Mason says.
"Yeah, I hate to say it, but Theo might be right. Maybe. Very, very, teeny, tiny possibility." I say, holding my forefinger and my thumb about an inch apart.
"Is everyone completely shocked that I might be right?" Theo asks.
"No, we just don't like it." Liam says.
"Okay, look, maybe we're all right." Scott says. "Maybe we should be looking for both, Aaron, and the woman on the phone."
"Okay, so what do you think we should do?" I ask. Scott glances over at me.
"Well, I mean, since you guys agree..." Scott starts.
"Oh, no." I say. "No way."
"What, you mean, me and Luka, and-" Mason starts.
"Me and them?" Theo asks.
"Yeah. You guys find Aaron. Liam and I will try to figure out who the voice is on the phone." Scott says. "If we find either half, maybe we don't have to fight at all. Stop the Anuke-ite. Stop the war."
"Hang on, Scott, can we talk about this for a moment?" I ask, pulling Scott away from the others. Scott gives me a look. "I don't like this. I mean, come on, seriously? Theo?"
"If you're not okay with it-" Scott starts.
"I am sure as hell so not okay with it." I say. Scott shrugs.
