Third Person's POV
"He's gaining too much ground on us, we should be moving faster." Monroe says to Gerard, who just stands patiently, waiting.
"You're talking like an amateur." Gerard says.
"An amateur that killed a Hellhound." Monroe says.
"Who was wounded and bleeding." Gerard says.
"And I took out a werewolf." Monroe says.
"Also injured and alone. Let's not mistake luck for skill." Gerard says. "The longer we wait, the weaker he will be."
"And the more time he'll have to get help." Monroe says.
"'The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.'" Gerard says.
"Sun Tzu. Got it. Can we at least keep moving?" Monroe says. A cell phone suddenly starts ringing somewhere in the distance, making Monroe glance up in the direction that it came from. "Did you hear that?" She asks. "It's him."

Liam's POV
"No. No, no." Mason says, laughing. "You swear you weren't cheating?"
"I swear to God." I say, putting the controller down.
"Fine. One more game." Mason says. I reach behind me, grabbing my text book off my bed.
"I have to get back to studying." I say.
"Uh... you need any help with anything?" Mason asks. I raise an eyebrow at him.
"What, you want to help me study?" I ask.
"I'm your best friend, I can help you study." Mason says.
"Nah, go home, dude." I say. "Luka's been helping me with some stuff, so..."
"Uh..." Mason starts hesitantly. "You... you, uh... Do you mind if I... I mean is, is it cool if..."
"What, you waanna stay over?" I ask.
"Yeah, is that okay?" Masona asks.
"I mean, yeah." I say. "If you tell me why."
"What do you mean, why?" Mason asks. "Maybe I just want to hang out."
"What about Corey?" I ask.
"He's at a study group." Mason says.
"We haven't had a sleepover since we were, like, ten." I say with a sigh. "What's going on?" Mason slowly exhales.
"You, uh, remember that body that we found? The uh, one with no face?" Mason asks. I nod. "I can't get it out of my head."
"Yeah, me too." I say.
"No, I mean, I literally can't get it out of my head. You know what after images are?" Mason asks.
"Uh, you mean, like, when you look away you still kind of see it?" I ask.
"Yeah. There's, um, there's this more extreme version called palinopsia. It literally means 'seeing again'. The, uh, the image just stays with you. And you see it again, and again." Mason says.
"So, where are you seeing the body?" I ask.
"Everywhere." Mason says in a whisper.
