Two days later

The train stops and Peeta collects our bags that we packed this morning. I follow him outside where people are cheering and waving. I wave at the crowd and smile before I grab Peeta's free hand and we walk to our house in the victor's village.
Peeta puts our stuff in the hallway and I take off my shoes and goes in to see that Buttercup have dragged in twelve mice into the kitchen. I groan in frustration. Peeta hears my groan and comes into the kitchen and looks at all the mice. He laughs.
"Seems as Buttercup have had a party here while we were gone." And walks to the little pile of the half eaten dead mice and puts them in a garbage bag and put them in the trashcan.
"God it smells like death in here." I say and hold over my nose in an attempt to make the smell less smelly. I walk towards the kitchen window and opens it up and I grab a mop and some water and starts mopping the flow where the dead mice were.

Later in the afternoon I decide to go out and hunt. It was like 3 weeks since I hunted last time and I guess Peeta would like some meat too that aren't from the Capitol.
In the woods I walk to the lake and sit down and look out over it. I whistle Rue's lullaby over the lake. My tears fills with tears as I think of Rue. I got the news after the war that her aunt and her older brother got shot after our visit. I start think of Rue and mom. Tear after tear falls down my face as I hear the mockingjays repeat the whistle.
Are you, are you coming to the tree. Where a dead man called out for his loved to flee.
And I start think of the moment when my father learned me that song when I was only nine years old. And when I sang it at home and my mother yelled at my father for the first time. She never yelled at him. Only that time. It was when Prim was only a little kid. She's so grown now. I still can't accept Cato. I don't trust him.

I walk away from the lake when I spot a deer. I walk quiet towards it and when I'm in a perfect distance, I shoot. I hit him right in the chest. Where I aimed. I walk home with it. It will feed me, Peeta and Buttercup for weeks.
I arrive home to the smell of Peeta's amazing cheese buns.
"I'm back!" I call out and Peeta walks out to the hallway.
"Did you catch something?" He asks and peeks my lips.
"Yeah, a deer." I say proudly.
"Wow." He says.
"I'm going to go to the backside and cut off the meat, then we can put it in the fridge." I say and he nods.

When I'm finished I give Buttercup the tests and he gets really happy. For once he likes me.
I walk inside as Peeta takes off his white apron. He looks at the meat.
"Wow that's a lot of meat." He laughs.
"I'll sell some at the hob today so we can buy some things." I tell him and he nods. I know we already have enough money to live a thousand years but I wanna work for my money, even if I do.
I do Panem propaganda once a month to speak to all the citizens or whatever.

A couple of hours later

"Peeta, would you wanna go for a walk?" I ask him, and he looks up from the magazine he's reading and smiles.
"Of course." He says and walks towards me and kisses the top of my head. I smile at him.

We walk towards the fence. It's still up to keep the predators away but there's now a door you can walk through whenever you want. But at your own risk. Not because there's any predators here anyways but I don't care. It's easier for me to get in and out now.
Peeta grabs my hand and we walk together towards the lake. When we arrive we find a rock that we can sit down. Peeta brought some bread and two mugs filled with hot chocolate.
We eat the food as we watch out over the lake. Where I was with Castor and the rest of the propo team and Gale. This is where I sang 'the hanging tree'. I smile at the memory.
I lay down in Peeta's lap and he strokes my hair softly.
I start to sing.
Are you, are you coming to the tree
Where a dead man called out
For his loved to flee

I continue to sing the song and Peeta looks around to see that all the mockingjays are quiet. They aren't singing.
"Even the birds stops to listen." He mumbles and looks around, fascinated.
I sit up and kiss him. He kisses me back and his hands directly goes down to my waist. When we pull away I look at him and smile.
"Let's go back home." I say and he smirks.

We walk back home hand in hand. People are looking at us as usual. I'm kind of used to it now though.
I reach for my keys, opens the door and walks in with Peeta behind me. I hear the door close and two big muscular hands grab my hips which makes me twirl around. I laugh and he chuckles.
"Wanna go upstairs?" He asks with a wink and smirks. I laugh until I realize that he's serious.
"Sure, mr Mellark." I tease and he takes my hand and follows me upstairs.
When we comes up to our bedroom he picks me up and I instantly wrap my legs around his waist. He kisses me deeply and puts me down on the bed and hovers over me.

He lays down beside me, trying as me to catch back his breathing. It was a week or so since and I've missed it to be truly honest.
"That was good." He smiles at me and kisses my forehead and puts an arm around my waist and one underneath my head.
"How much's the clock?" I ask him. He turns around and takes a look at the clock he always has at his nightstand.
"Soon 6pm." He says.
"Are you hungry?" I ask him.
"A little, should we start making dinner?" He asks and I nod my head.

We walk down to the kitchen and I walk to the fridge, taking out a piece of deer meat and putting it on a cutting board. I take out some spices from the cabinet and Peeta picks out some of the potatoes I traded at the hob today. He puts them to boil and I cut up the meat and put it in the frying pan. As our meal is cooking, Peeta comes behind me and hugs me, resting his head on my left shoulder.
"Doesn't it hurt in your back to bend down to my shoulder?" I chuckle and he laughs into my shoulder and kisses my neck.
"Doesn't bother me." He laughs and stands up, bends over me to watch the potatoes.

When our food is finished we sit down at the table and I start to dig in. I've been really hungry, more than usual for the past week. But I like food so it doesn't bother me.
Peeta lightens up some candles. He's so sweet.
"Would you wanna watch a movie later?" He asks me.
"Sure." I smile and bend over the table and pecks his lips softly. Why does Peeta always makes me feel this way? I always get these butterflies in my stomach. I love him so much.

Suddenly, I start to feel ill.
"What's wrong?" Peeta asks, as he sees that my face probably turns white.
"I- I don't feel well..." I mumble before I rush into the toilet and kneel over the toilet before my lunch and dinner goes down into the toilet. I feel Peeta's hand resting on my back, in an attempt to calm me down. He holds up my hair so I won't get puke in it.
"Oh my god, Katniss are you okay?" Peeta asks when I'm done, I nod as I'm washing off my face and grab my toothbrush to freshen up my moth after what just came out of it.
"I- I, it feels better now." I stutter.
Peeta picks me up and carries me up the stairs, bridal style and I bury my nose into his armpit, that's got a scent of his deodorant. He puts me down on my side of the bed and puts me underneath the sheets.
"I'll make you some soup." He says and kisses my forehead. I smile and whisper a thanks.

Peeta walks in with a bowl of soup, and puts it on top of the sheets.
"Here." He smiles. I mumble a thanks and starts eating the soup.
Peeta slides down underneath the sheets on his part of the bed and turns on the tv.
"I don't know what's happening... I've been really hungry for the past few days. Hungrier than usual." I say and he turns his head. He looks at me with a confused expression before he shakes his head, shaking away the thought he just had.
"What do you think?" I ask him and he looks at me again.
"That you're hungrier because you haven't moved during the games and when you came home and started hunting, your body needs more energy than usual." He says and I look at him. That could be an explanation. I nod my head and take another spoon of my soup. Then a thought flies past my head but I quickly shake it away.
"Could you get me some bread?" I ask him and he smiles and nods, strokes the back of my hair and walks out of our room.
He comes back very quickly with two slices of bread and hands them to me. I mumble a thanks and smiles at him and he smiles back.

But honestly, I don't think it's what Peeta thinks it is. I think I'm pregnant.
