Chapter 14 - Day 10/ the final day #1

Peeta woke me up this morning. It's only three tributes remaining. The girl from 1 and the girl from Gale's group and Rock from our group.
I found out yesterday what the girl's name is. Her name is Cara and she's in the same age as Rock.
Rock and Cara seems to prepare to search for the girl from group 1.
Right now they are both eating. I feel a little hurt that one of them has to die today. And if I know Rock right if she won't kill him he would do it himself.

Peeta sits in the chair on my left side and hands me a plate with a sandwich.
>> Eat. << he says and kisses my cheek.
I look down at my sandwich. Then I realize I'm starving.
I dig into my sandwich which is full of goods that tastes wonderful together.
Ham, cheese, mayo, cucumber and tomatoes.
>> Was it good?<< Peeta asks and smiles.
All I can do is nod.
>> Did you make this?<< I ask and looks at my sandwich.
>> Yeah.<< he nods.
>> WHY HAVEN'T YOU MADE ME THIS EARLIER?!<< I almost scream at him.
He laughs and I can notice how one of the voluenteer mentors are looking at me like I'm stupid.
>> I promise I'll make you one hundred when we're back home.<< he says and gives me a quick kiss.
>> One thousand.<< I say and looks at him seriously.
>> Okay.<< he says and laughs.

Back to the screen.
Rock and Cara seems to talk about something but I can't tell what they are saying because they are whispering.
Cara suddenly stands up and looks down at Rock with tears in her eyes.
She slaps his cheek, grabs her stuff and takes off running into the woods.

Peeta turns around and looks at me.
>> What just happened?<< he asks and looks at me with worried eyes.
>> I don't know.<< I shake my head.
I turn my head back to the screen. Rock is sitting on a stone, he looks a little paralyzed.
He really has to collect his stuff, because the game makers will make them meet. Probably by the cornucopia.
I'm just happy that she didn't kill him, because of whatever he did. I really wanna know what he did.
He wakes up and starts to collect his stuff in a backpack he took at the cornucopia. I can see one single tear curl down his eye but he dries it away, probably because he don't want the hole nation to see him cry. I know how it is. I think I do.
At least he hasn't a Gale to worry about at home.
How would my life look like if I would've spent it with Gale?
Ugh hell no.
I shook the thought out of my head and turns around to Peeta.
>> Do you think this will only take one day?<< I ask.
>> Probably..<< he says.
>> Do you think he will survive?<< I ask him.
>> Yeah, but I think only if the career kills Cara.<< he says.
>> We both know Rock that good to know that when it comes to survive he puts everyone first and are willing to die for the ones he loves. Just as you.<< Peeta says.
I nod.
He kisses me and I kiss him back.

Rock is running through the woods, looking around him all the time.
Suddenly from nowhere lightning strikes down two meters from where Rock is. He screams and begins to run. They are forcing him to the cornucopia.
One more lightning are meeting the ground on his left and he begins to run to the right. It's the way to the cornucopia.
I feel how my heart beats are beating like one drum. I think Peeta almost can hear it.
He looks at me, notices how worried I am. He pulls me in for a hug and kisses the top of my head.
>> He's gonna be fine.<< he says calmly. I really don't know how Peeta can handle these situations calmly.
>> Peeta?<< I ask.
>> Mhm?<<
>> How can you handle these situations so calmly without freaking out?<< I ask him.
>> I don't. I'm just good at hiding it.<< he says and strokes my hair.
I slowly feel calmer, probably just because I feel safe in Peeta's strong protecting arms.

Peeta comes over and hands me a plate with a steak and some potatoes.
I look at him and kisses his cheek before I dig into my food.
>> Ah, look the lovebirds.<< I hear a familiar voice say. I can feel how much hatred it's in his voice.
>> Leave your opinions to yourself.<< I say to him without giving him eye contact.
Gale's glare seems to burn right through me.
>> Leave her alone.<< Peeta says and I can almost see how his face turns into a red shade.
>> She broke my heart. Why should I?<< Gale asks.
>> If someone here have broken another persons heart so is it you. Not her.<< Peeta says.
>> Peeta, you don't have to take my fights for me. Gale's just jealous.<< I say.
I whisper in his ear.
>> Why don't make out a little?<< I ask him.
He laughs and pulls me in for a long kiss.
I can already see how Gale's face becomes red in embarassment. Yas, I got him. Now he can't say anything about it. Then I stop thinking about Gale and everything else in the whole world but Peeta.
Suddelnly Peeta starts breathing heavily and pulls back from me.
>> Hey? What's wrong<< I ask him.
He just shakes his head and holds hard onto the chair.
Oh, he's got one of those attacks he's got since he got hijacked. They don't
come often now, since he's got control of them for the most of the time.
>> Just....stay.......away.<< Peeta says and I can see how much he's struggling to say those three words.
>> It's okay..<< I say calmly in an attempt to calm him down.
He shakes his head.
Then the chair broke.
I can hear him groan in frustration as he lays down on the floor instead.
I wonder how our future kids will do, would they laugh or would they become scared because they don't know what's happening to their father? If they're small I can't tell them that their father got tortured by an old horrible man.
I shake the thought out of my head,
I look quickly on the screen, I see Rock hiding behind a tree. He seems to be safe so I can calm Peeta down.
I sit down on the floor.
>> Look at me.<< I say.
He shakes his head.
I pull him up from the floor and holds his head in my hands.
>> Honey, look at me.<< I say while he's trying his best to not look at me.
I can see behind my back how much Gale seems to love this situation. Of course because he hates Peeta.
I force him to look at me.
>> Stay with me, Peeta.<< I say.
I can see how his body relaxes as I said those three words.
I kiss him.
>> Always.<< he whispers.
I smile at him.

We both sit down at the table to see that Rock is chased by the career girl. Rock turns around and throws a knife at her. It hits her in her leg and she stops and screams. And since she's a career there's of course a sponsor sending her some medecine.
Rock runs away from her. He looks into on camera and shakes his head. That's when I see the second year in Rock's eye. He dries that one away just as quickly as the first one.
I can feel my tears falling down and finds their way down to my jawline. I can feel Peeta's hand search for mine. He finds it and holds onto it. I can feel a little but relaxed but not much. Rock can die now, in two minutes and there's nothing I can do about it.

Suddenly Effie runs into the mentor's room.
>> Katniss! Peeta!<< she screams with her high pitched voice that only makes my ears scream no.
>> What's wrong?<< I ask her.
>> Uhm... It's Haymitch...<< she says and starts crying.
If it's Haymitch and Effie's crying then something's really wrong. And I can feel how my face turns white.
