When I was little I used to go to church with my mom.
We would enjoy every sermon and wear smiles on our faces, nobody told me then how much danger I was in.
Nobody told me gay was a choice.
That my people were sins, and that we were to be tortured for loving.
Nobody told me that people got killed for being gay, or being transgender.
Nobody told me my life was at risk every time I stepped into that church.
Gay is a choice.
We choose to be different.
Gay is a choice.
We choose to be killed.
Gay is a choice.
We choose to be abused.
Gay is a choice.
We choose to be bullied.
Gay is a choice.
We choose to be hated!
Gay is a choice!
...
...
...
Gay is not a choice.
I did not choose to be different, I did not choose to be killed, I did not choose to be abused, I did not choose to be bullied, I did not choose to be hated. I did not choose to be the way I am.
I chose to love her.
I chose to love her with every beat of my heart.
I chose to love her because she loved me.
Gay is not a choice.
