Chapter 9

Eventually Liz came back with her boyfriend, Andrew.

“Hey, you two,” I said a little mad, “where have you been?”

Liz laughed, “Calm down! We were dancing.” She answered with a grin and his hand still holding her waist.

“Oh, okay.” I said rolling my eyes.

They sat down next to us and Liz starred at me with a smirk but still focused.

I leaned toward her, “What’s the matter?” I asked concerned.

She shut her eyes and shook her head but kept the grin on her face. I sat back irritated and annoyed with a pinch of anxious. But all of the sudden Garrett was frowning, looking at the table and was whispering very softly to Liz in a harsh voice.

“Don’t you think I know that?!” he wickedly starred at her.

“Yes, but do you know what the suspense is going to do to her?” then all of the sudden her voice became a dark, deep smoldering sound, “She is going to burst if you don’t tell her your, well our, little secret,” Liz said while giving him a sharp look.

“I know… hey Katie, what was your drink?” he asked in a sweet luscious voice.

“Um… well I had a…”I couldn’t remember my name when he talked like that to me.

“She got a grape N’ spirit mixing midnight” Liz answered for me.

“Thanks Liz we’ll be back in a minute.”

He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of my chair. When I saw the bartender, he smiled at me, but then as Garrett put his arm around my waste their bartender looked annoyed. I smiled to myself.

“Hey, what can I get you sir?” he looked at Garrett.

“Hey, I will have a Pepsi with ice to the top of the glass.” He answered with a smile.

But then he starred at me. I didn’t understand until the bartender said,

“What about you, gorgeous?” Smiling at me

“My favorite Grape N’ spirit mixing midnight.” I said with a twinkle in my eye.

Garrett gave me a look.

“What?” I smiled.

“Are you cheating on me with the bartender?!” he laughed.

“No I’m not!” I laughed along, feeling like I was going to explode because he said officially that we were dating!

“She might not be but I sure wish she was!” the bartender laughed, imagining.

I smiled and said, “Well, what would your wife say?”

“How did you know I’m married?” the bartender said bewildered.

“Because of the woman cleaning tables, she looks over here with a smile on her face and I see you smile back. And then the ring that is on your ring finger, left hand that has the inscription that says ‘Forever and always my love’ which is a pretty good indicator,” I smiled happy with my watchful eyes.

Garrett and the bartender had the same masks of horror and shock.

Garrett shook his head, “I will never doubt again that you are observant...” He trailed off.

I smiled but started to laugh as the bartender sat there with a cup and a Pepsi in hands, flabbergasted.

I laughed and said, “relax I can be observant. But only when I want to be or need too.”
