Chapter 1

After I got home from work I saw my brother Jake working on his car in the 4 car garage.

“What are you doing in here bro? You are always in here…” I complained.

“Don’t worry so much. You’ll get wrinkles!”

“Shut up, Jake! Where will I get them from? You?! That’s what I thought.”

“I don’t think so! It’s your turn to shut up.” He said in a snotty tone.

I walked into the house and smelled something very sweet, and delicious. Cookies. Yum, Mom.

“Hey mom, what you making,” I asked.

“Just making some cookies with Ria,” she answered smiling at the cook of our house. I smiled at them both.

“Well, can I help you do the taste testing?” I said looking at the cookies as though they were a pot of gold.

She laughed at me and my face.

“No, take these cookies to our new neighbors. They are new so be nice, and try to make friends with them. They have a daughter who looks 15 and her name is Lizi, then they have a son named Garrett. I believe he is your age.” She told me details as though she was in awe. I wondered why.

“All right mom, but if either one of them are rude, I wont take it sitting down.” I said with a warning her.

She rolled her eyes and just said to “be polite” with a begging look on her face.

I knocked on their door with a grin on my face and a plate overload with cookies.

“Hello?” a women voice asked.

She had dark blue eyes like the sea and blonde hair pilled on top of her head with chopsticks keeping it all up. She was wearing blue jeans and a gray t-shirt.

“Hey, I’m the girl next door. I bring cookies to welcome you to the neighborhood.” I said just as sweetly as she had.

“Oh, how nice! What’s your name sweet heart?” she smiled so sweetly.

“Katelyn but people normally just call me Kate or Katie.” I answered surprised by how sweet and motherly she sounded.

“Oh, well then Kate, my name is Audrey but you can call me Addie.”

I laughed,” Well, if you say so”

“Who’s there mom?” said a pleasant voice coming from the upstairs.

“A girl who lives next door, her name is Katie,” Addie smiled at me, “Come down to meet her, Garrett.”

“Coming,” He answered kindly with the same, pleasant voice.

“Hello, my name is Garrett if you didn’t hear.” He said laughing.

All I could do was look at him as though I saw the sun for the first time. He was so cute! With his dark blonde hair and light green eyes. Just like my own. He had a nice structure too. With tight abe’s and muscles seeable through his tight black shirt, light blue jeans.

“H-hi,” I smiled and blushed at my stutter.

“Can I do anything to help you guys get settled in?” honestly hoping they would have something for me to do around Garrett. Now I knew why my mom was in that awed state when she thought about him.

“Oh, thank you. If you would help my daughters unpack her things and get things set up in her room?” Addie looked relieved for the help.

“Sure, that fine with me…”staring at Garrett and surprisingly finding him stare back.

We stood there for at least 5 minutes but it felt like forever.

“Let me give you a tour of the house, and then I can give you over to my annoying, silly sister.” He said finally letting me look away, and as soon as he did I looked down to gather my bearings and got up the courage to look up again.

“Um… thank you that is very kind of you. Uh, where did your mom go? She was just there and then she wasn’t…” I asked wondering how she snuck off.

“Oh, she can just do that sort of thing very quietly, and it is even worse when she scares you by doing it!” he started laughing so I joined in laughed along.

We entered his house and I was surprised once again. His house was smaller than it appeared to be from the outside even though my house could crush his even if it was what it appeared to be. We continued to walk down the hall way and he directed me into a large, nice room. It had a couch facing the wall with 2 small side tables draws and a large TV hanging on a petal pink and green wall. Then you would look to your right and you saw a nice dining table, wooden, probably walnut, and 3 chairs surrounding it with a neat hanging lamp over it. If you continued to look to your right you would saw a nice seized kitchen with 2 islands and 7-8 huge boxes on the counters.

“This is nice. I like it, it is very warm and welcoming.” I commented his house.

“Good. I was hoping you would say that.” He answered with a smile.

I smiled back and we continued back though the rest of his house.
